I only mentioned one of the factors in a previous post.....that being the Broncos wanting to get rid of him being public knowledge. So? i never said that was the ONLY reason.

How does my tone change over that? I never claimed his character flaws weren't a factor....i just never brought it up in regards to his value....i figured it was assumed.

If we're going to get nitpicky....His breath might stink ....that could bring his value down too.

I see your point to build upon our strengths, that makes sense. Edwards and J-Co are more then a capable duo and we may win a super bowl with just them. The thing is we would be getting a premium talent for a buy low cost. To get an elite pass rusher costs a 1st rd pick and maybe more depending on who your targeting. Hell if a team has a premiere pass rusher unless they are FORCED to trade him like Jared Allen did to the Chiefs, they are not made available. Unless of course the team receiving the pass rusher knowingly gets raped.

I believe in this team and roster so much that I feel this addition would make us favorites to win the super bowl. I really do. Right now we are one of the legit contenders. Adding him will separate us from the pack and make us the favorite. Getting Brandon Marshall would change our offense dramatically for the better and force teams to play us completely different. You can't stack 8 in the box ever again. No exaggeration EVER. Our defense is near championship caliber now if not already with Cromartie and a year in the system. Now its time to get the offense up to par and make this team more balanced. We seen how defenses changed the way they played us after acquiring Edwards. Imagine what would happen if we got BM? Another significant ripple effect?

Pick your poison and pray it doesn't kill you. That is what will happen.

Alot of these proposed picks from the first few pages of the thread are so stupid. People wanting to give up multiple players/picks that are worth more than Denvers ORIGINAL asking price for BMarsh. They even are lowering their asking price, yet people want us to give players worth at LEAST a 2nd rounder + a 2nd round pick.

Something like Leon + a 4th rounder is far more realistic. Except im almost certain they dont want a hb.

Leon + a 4th might have been realistic before Rex's comment to the press this week about how terrible Leon's injury was and how he'd never give him that many carries on a team that runs the ball more than any other in the league. Leon's trade value is in the cellar right now.

At an absolute minimum hes worth a 3rd. Im certain if we put Leon on the market for a 3rd wed have a least 5-10 teams interested.

Plus Rex isnt stupid, he surely said what he said for a reason. Im thinking its likely to bring his agent down to earth and get his asking price down. Teams arent going to show interest on a player based on what other teams head coaches are thinking

  7. Glad you have such a high opinion of me. But hey...I guess that's your " Insult anyone who's opinion you disagree with" Schtick. Go ahead..bully away like you always do.

The fact remains...Leon not being in camp and not signing his one year tender IS a potential disturbance. And if it isn't one now...it will be as mini camp proceeds.

Both players carry baggage with them. And it's baggage that reduces their overall value in the trade market. The closer we get to training camp the more their value will decrease. Everyone KNOWS the Broncos are desperate to unload Marshall. His off the field problems increase the risk for any trade partner. That means he can be had for much cheaper than what his on the field value is worth(likely a first rounder).

Leon and a 2nd or 3rd round is realistically what the Broncos will likely end up w/ by the time they finally unload Marshall.

wouldn't the most likely scenario be leon for Marshall straight up - then we have Braylon and Marshall duke it out for a year, resign one, tag the other, trade the taggee for, probably, a second next year.

you said Marshall is a bigger fuckup than most....and that may be true to us....but in the NFL's perspective...he's not....because he's still playing in the league and not facing any disciplinary action. I don't care if he's an asshole, punches babies or whatever...as long as he's on the field producing.

And then the conversation switched to why the Broncos price was dropping for Marshall....and I said "because it's public knowledge that the Broncos want to get rid of him".....and I left out character flaws as another contributing factor because i figured it was assumed.

March 18, 2007: Watley told police Marshall hit her repeatedly with a closed fist. While she refused medical attention, police noticed 2 large, dark-colored bruises on Watley's eyes. Police reported hearing Marshall say in the lobby of a neighboring hotel to the extent of "I didn't tell her nothing", "I already told her twice earlier." Marshall left and was not arrested. Police advised Watley to take out a warrant for Marshall's arrest, but Watley never did. No charges were ever filed.

Afterwards Marshall went onto making the joke "What do you say to a woman with 2 black eyes" popular.

Wide receiver is not a position of need to me... i would rather build up our two lines. Cotch and braylon will work for us and if we would actually use the clown i think we could be fine. Not to mention that we have dustin keller! Jesus! lol

And I still maintain that if he weren't more of a fuckup than most he'd have been traded for a first round pick already because he's a top 5 WR in his prime.

He's been suspended by the league and by his own team multiple times. Your average NFL douche doesn't have half the trouble this clown has.

Maybe afterwards we could trade Cotchery for Chris Johnson straight up!

I agree. with a line that can provide just a little bit longer of protection, most receives can get open. we don't need home run hitters on both sides of the field to have a dangerous receiving corps.

I think I'll just lay off you, Kurt. I don't want you crying and quitting the board. Gotta be careful with those fragile personalities.

    that's fine...

but i would still support him if he came to the Jets if he subsequently turns his life around. He would add a lethal element to this offense.....something that very well COULD put us in the super bowl. I can't pass that up as a fan....

I know he's a wife beater and a fuckin' jerk....i never disputed that. But i admit...i'm blinded by the shimmer of the Lombardi trophy.

What Rex said directly affects Leon's trade value. You don't think that any team they try to negotiate with is going to bring up what he said to lower the price? I know what Leon is worth. A lot of us do. And maybe that's why Rex said what he did.

We just gave away a healthy Kerry Rhodes for a pittance. Healthy safeties, even soft, pompous, distracted ones, are harder to come by than undersized kick returners coming off a double compound fracture.

I'll be floored if we trade Leon at this point.

  19. Good idea. Save the insults for the next person who's opinion differs from yours. A "fragile personality" like mine likely doesn't offer much for your "inflate self esteem by bullying on a message board" complex.

Of course I would support him if he were a Jet too. I don't care about his personality so much (being a jerk) as I do the risk to the team. Of course, I've never been a big fan of men who attack woman, but that's not even my beef.
