well i can see both crying about not having enough looks! Marshall and Braylon's baggage are too big to handle. I think we can only have one. Cotch is one of the best #2 in the league. get a slot in the draft.

if by any chance we trade leon I want to draft the guy from ole miss mccluster we can both fill RB an slot WR void!

If they can ship out some combination of:

    Leon
    Thomas
    Edwards
    2011 picks

...then I'm fine with it. Don't fuck with the 2010 draft and don't fuck with J-Co.

What if we're like 11-2, leading the AFC and closing in on a 1 or 2 seed? I bet those guys would keep their mouth shuts even if they're not getting the ball.

I am thinking Edwards and a pick would be a good move for us. I just cant see us having Edwards and Marshall, it would cost way too much.

They should focus on getting another pick for Leon.

  5. Especially since they'd have wide open passing lanes w/ the running game, playing for mega long term contracts and playing under Rex Ryan who is arguably the most desired coach to play under in the NFL!

I think we are better off without this head case!

Everybody's trading everybody today. All over a phone call. I'm not much of a speculator. I'm usually wrong, as are most of us on here.

If we listened to ourselves on here, we'd probably have no draft picks left for the next 5 years and a bunch of injured, old WR's, half of whom are in jail.

true that but it is still fun to speculate. especially during such a calm offseason!

  9. i agree Marshall has off the field problems...but if the trade involved Leon...he's kinda been an off the field distraction too..wouldn't you agree?

Having Marshall and Edwards with Cotch in the slot is devastating with our running game. How do you cover 2 #1s, one being a top 5 WR one the other a lower tier #1, along with a very good #2?

Honestly we have to go 3 WR set often and rotate Keller and T-Rich in the game. I think with Sanchez work ethic he can learn to utilize his weapons. Not to maximum potential but that trio will make him look VERY good. Does anyone think the outcome of the Colts AFCC game would of been different if we had Marshall especially in the 2nd half when Greene went down? I don't know if we win but I guarantee we don't go scoreless that's for sure.

Marshall, Edwards, J-Co, Keller, Greene, LT??????
Top 5 offense along with #1 defense= very high chance of Super Bowl appearance

I think we should trade Leon and Cotch for Marshall, and then we should trade Woody Johnson for Daniel Snyder. Transformation complete.

I agree with Shaun John..if we had all three the team would be stacked and very hard to match up against. Marshall is worth any draft pick in my mind..you are not getting someone better than Marshall in the draft..not that you can guarantee.. and also inregards to the baggage comments..he will leave all that behind him in Denver..we have a team and a coach that most guys want to play for...if we give up leon and a 2nd it would be a steal...the guy had over 20 catches in a game!!...Sanchez needs nice big targets and putting a 3 Wr set like that together would make the team scary not to mention Keller... the defense is the best in the league already... I don't see why not make this move...lets go Tanny!!!

If we trade Leon and Cotch for Marshall WITHOUT giving up a pick, its a no brainer. I rather have all 3 WRs and trade Leon and a 2nd but either way IF Marshall acts the way he did last year when they were winning its a steal. Marshall is superior to Cotchery in every facet of football. The only thing I may give Cotch is he MIGHT be able to catch the ball better in traffic but still Marshall is 6'4" 230 while Cotch is 6 foot 210 so who knows if that is even a fact I'm just trying to give Cotch something.

And I think Woody and Tanny lately with the moves they have made and the increased success have them inching closer to a Steinbrenner and Cashman look then a Dan Synder and....Dan Synder..look? lol

A majority of their moves have been a success and I have full trust they will continue to make the right decisions for this team.

The problem with the move is that Cotchery is an affordable receiver who has never had off the field problems. We could bank on him being a very good #2 for a number of years.

Marshall is going to demand a huge contract and has massive issues.

I wouldn't put "trade for Marshall" in my top priorities list this off-season, but I could def see why we're involved or keeping a close eye on this situation.

The way I look at it is, Edwards is on a 1-year leash anyway. He needs to perform and perform well, not only to get a contract extension, but to get paid the top dollars he was looking for in Cleveland. Bringing Marshall in would be sort of a security blanket. If Edwards has another sub-par year, you let him go and you extend Marshall with Cotch as your #2 by 2011. If Edwards does really well, you'll have options. Maybe franchise him (tho risky since we're gonna have a lot of players who's contracts we'd have to re-new) and trade him, or trade Cotch and look for that slot WR in the Draft the following year.

A team is always better off when they have tons of talent they don't even know what to do with. Look at it this way, if we acquire Marshall, one way or another, we're gonna get re-compensated for the Edwards trade. Whether that's a SB, or putting two of the most dangerous WR's on the field for years to come, or picks (for either Edwards or Cotch) in futures Drafts. I don't think you could go wrong with any of those scenarios.

i would love to have the talent but the jets did just go to the afc championship game and have already set themselves to be a better team next year. i don't want to fuck with the core of the team anymore this offseason.

Obviously...if this goes down...Marshall will certainly be signed to a long term contract.

My stipulation would be to put a clause in the contract that would protect the Jets in the event of Marshall getting arrested......and then subsequently "suspended" by the league.

I keep hearing how people have a problem with Marshall's baggage and such.....they're valid concerns...but the Jets don't seem to share the same view.....otherwise Cromartie wouldn't be here.

From a talent perspective.....Marshall is money in the bank.

  18. Great post....i feel the exact same way. You can never have enough top end talent.

And a long term contract for the money he wants is a problem considering all of the players we have coming up for new deals.

I agree I said in the BM thread, to me, the biggest issue is the contract and his off field issues. But we are in a uncapped year so if we win the Super Bowl, which unlike almost every year the past 4 decades you can say with somewhat confidence, wouldn't it be worth it? Enter a little bit of cap hell or let Edwards walk for a much increased chance of seeing our 2nd Super Bowl victory in 41 years. Not only that but how many here were even ALIVE for the first one? lol

Revis Christ I just want to go to a fuckin Jets parade. I been to 5 Yankee parades but when is the time gonna come when I can wear Jets green to a NYC parade? February 2011 sounds great to meeeeeeee
