Yep Yahoo says that. What happens in this scenario is: TEN loses this week SD wins this week Week 15: DEN over SD ARZ over TEN NE over MIA CIN over PIT CAR over NYJ DET over BAL Week 16: MIA over BUF GB over Pit NYJ over CLE SD over OAK TEN over JAX NE over BAL Week 17: BAL over CIN TEN over HOU NYJ over MIA PIT over CLE KC over SD (although I flipped SD winning and nothing changes)
Well the Bengals are a game behind New England and hold the tiebreaker. The Jets could get screwed though if they decided to move Ravens-Bengals into primetime where its win and in for the Ravens. The Bengals at that point would know if they have something to play for. So with that said cheer for a Dallas-Eagles game for the divsion cuz that would most certainly get put into primetime.
Don't they try to avoid flexing that way, where a team would know if they need to play for something?
The way I view it to is if the Ravens can win 2 out of 3 then they deserve to make the playoffs, I wont be mad, I wont be upset, they would deserve it. If they can't then they are opening the gates for the other teams to take it from em.
We definitely do not deserve to be in the playoffs this year, but if we are I'll take it obviously. I wonder from the Yahoo/ESPN thing what tiebreakers we win to sneak into the playoffs at 8-8
Yes they do but if they dont have any other option they would put the win and in game into primetime. I remember in 2009 Texans fans being mad because they shifted the Jets-Bengals into primetime despite the Texans being tied with us heading into the week. The Bengals chose not to play the Jets because if they lost then they would rematch the Jets and if they won they would have played the Texans instead. Cincy decided to not really play the game seriously in the finale which in essence killed the Texans hopes and setup a rematch with the Jets the next week in the playoffs.
We are not going to make the playoffs.. We lost the games we needed to win.. i.e Buffalo, Miami, Pitt. etc
I would be mad at the Jets, I wouldnt be mad at the Lions/Patriots/Bengals for not beating the Ravens.
Would they risk putting MIA/NYJ in primetime you think? If there was a potential win and in for both teams? According to yahoo if BAL wins in the final week, MIA still has a win and in. And if BAL loses both teams have a win and in You are risking an ugly game though. EDIT: And it's much less likely a team out of it like the Jets might be in the primetime rest everyone vs a division rival. IT happens more if you clinched a playoff spot
The Jets-Phins can certainly get flexed. Its unlikely though because Baltimore has tiebreakers over both of us so the game would have the potential to be meaningless. If the Ravens lose the next two games though and the Phins and Jets are ontop at 8 wins heading into week 17 and the Ravens only have 7 wins then yeah we would get flexed unless Dallas/Philly is meaningful to. It would be up to NBC, they would likely take Dallas.
Of course but why bother being a fan if you are not going to give the team a chance when the odds still say they have a chance? If we lose then so be it, but at least we all got something to look forward to and get excited about this whole week, this is what its about.
We're not making the playoffs. We blew our chance by losing 3 straight. At this point I just want to see who will be around next year and young guys developing.
How did we lose to the Bills a few weeks back. They got man handled by Tampa today .That was the game we needed for our 9-7 season
