Maybe..Just maybe...I'm going out on a limb here..Maybe they thought he earned the chance to catch on somewhere where he would actually play.

Some coaches respect players enough to not sit on them..Last night looked like a showcase.

Good point, but I thought he was good depth. Is Musa gone too?

stupid Poteat is better than Barrett, and Chatman was more than a little solid in preseason i thought for sure he was a lock, especially after how he ran the rock last night. he ran angry like he had something to prove.

Ahmad Carroll is garbage. Chatman and Poteat are decent backups. What is Mangini thinking??

I'll believe it when I see it posted on Saturday on the Jets website. Until then, I pray the CS re-thinks this and re-evaluates all the players available and trim the fat in another position.

I'm hoping someone steps on Ainge's big toe and Mangini has to put him on IR for the season

They obviously knew they were cutting Chatman before the game last night and showcased him so he could be picked up by another team.

awwwwww WTF! Chatman? I really liked him as a third back who could legit compete in the backfield. And poteat too! He's at worst a third corner on this team IMO

Poor personnel decisons, just like they made last year, with ware, to name one.

This CS does not seem to have a good eye for RBs, other than getting lucky with drafting Leon.

    question about Chatman:

if they know/knew he's good enough to play elsewhere, could they have waited to sign him then trade him since he's got value?

Looks like they are going to keep 4 TE's again, 5 if you count Dearth.

Screw being excessively nice to the player and showcasing him. He could have played here. Thomas Jones is 30 and has had a heavy workload the past 3 seasons. The guy does not have much left in the tank. I strongly feel this team is going to need another ball carrier besides Washington.

Some other team will scoop him up rather quickly. Chicago? Cincinnati? Denver? Philadelphia? Detroit?

With all the decent moves the NYJETS have been making you knew there would have to be a typical NYJET move coming somewhere down the line. The line was tonight Chatman and Poteat 2 dumb moves!

With head-scratching moves like this, my first thoughts are always-
a trade is imminent and it involves bringing in a better player at the position
    and
perhaps the player is a complete jackass off the field.

I have seen Chatman interviewed and he has never come across as a jackass. So maybe a trade is in the works.

Please, please, please- no Rudi Johnson.
