Without getting into all the specifics like others have posted above me, I will just say this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard lol
I don't like the general idea of it week-to-week, but if we were to, for example, face more generally pass-heavy offenses in the beginning of the season and generally more run-heavy offenses towards the end of the season I don't see why this isn't great news. EDIT: These offensive philosophies are debatable BUF - run PIT - balanced MIA - balanced SF - balanced HOU - run IND - pass NE - pass MIA - balanced BYE SEA - balanced STL - balanced NE - pass ARI - balanced JAX - run TEN - run SD - pass BUF - run
sure, if you had a schedule where you faced more run heavy teams later on, you might try to bulk up a bit (although there's a limit to what you can do in season). Guys do sometimes try to gain/lose weight in season. It's hard to do anything significant though. What's laughable about this is the idea that he could make a difference rapidly gaining/losing weight week to week.
And of all the things I've heard this offseason, this is one of the crazier ones. He'll fluctuate by a couple pounds, certainly, maybe fluctuating 10 pounds or so, but it's not going to make a huge difference.
But I thought when I said all those things it was my biased opinion and I was just causing trouble? I thought I was "making it up?" I thought it wasn't "physically possible" for someone to not be able to gain and maintain weight? Now that that's out of the way, I credit the Jets for at least trying to make it work. Whether this does work or not is more than the Bills ever did. Good to see someone get creative to get a a guy of good character and great attitude on the field. Maybe Aaron will never be a starter, but I at least credit the Jets for taking their time and trying. It was more than the Bills ever did.
From a bodybuilding standpoint, this is by far the most stupidest thing I have ever heard I think. To bulk up it takes months, not single weeks. To cut it takes month(s), definately not weeks. This has to be a joke.
it's not possible...the proposition of the idea in of itself is retarded and not based in reality. in fact, i'd like to hear the audio clip of the quote because something tells me it was said tounge in cheeck but TMZ, ahem, I mean the media are spinning it. it is anatomically impossible for a human being to gain or lose 20 pounds in a span of days.
Depends on what starting point he was talking about. "Gain or lose 20 pounds in a 3 day period". Instead of going each direction from a "baseline" weight, he could be talking about each end of the range. Ie. if his "normal" weight was 230, if he was at 220, he could go to 240. If he was at 240, he could go to 220. That's just a 20 pound range, not 40.
Yeah, I had like a million things to do today. I was running around at like one hundred miles an hour to get it all done.
The idea that Maybin could reach around to a button on the back of his head, inflate himself by 20 pounds, and then deflate himself after the game, would be no more ridiculous than this. This interview by Maybin is what probably got Bills fans to dislike the guy. For some reason he doesnt accept the fact he will be a 230-240lb football player, he keeps making up these stories about being able to gain and lose weight whenever he wants. No Aaron, you can put on some lbs, you got up to 254lbs year one in Buffalo, only to get down to 225lbs by the end of the year, and then year 2 came in 250lbs and left 228lbs when cut. Maybin's problem is keeping weight on, he cant control it. Why he just doesn't admit that. Im surprised he is still talking like this. Already he has gone from 254lbs this offseason to 240lbs, its the same thing. Its probably why he had most of his sacks early in the year and faded.
