Offensive linemen work together as a unit. They need time together before they can be most effective as a unit. They need to understand how the guys around them play and handle different situations. They need time to work together and trust each other to do what they think they're going to do. This isn't madden, you don't just plug a guy in and get a 94 overall rating.
This argument regarding Moore makes very little sense. The Jets could use an elite WR, a young HB (maybe, because I'm still not convinced Washington can't be an every down back), two defensive ends (sorry, I'm not a huge Ellis fan), two linebackers, a cornerback, and a safety. If cutting more gives you enough money to fill any of these positions it's a no brainer. Ask any GM or scout worth their salt and they will tell you guard if one of the easiest, if not the easiest, position to replace.
Thought this warranted a bump. Maybe some folks have now changed their minds, and before I hear any "He wasn't good back then BS.......save it" Moore has been a constant in our O line for many years now, and is now only getting the recognition because the rest of the O line has stepped up and now matured together.
Yeah, we were ready to just let Moore go. That would have been disaterous to say the least. Funny how easy it is for the fan to let guys and go and replace them with unproven College kids. I am glad Mr. T is running things.
Lol this thread is laughable. LTJF hahahahaha good job buddy. What stocks do you like? I need a couple to short........
I still think Brandon Moore is our best run blocker, but Slauson is one hell of a drive blocker and can get to linebackers in a hurry. If it weren't for that whole chemistry shindig and the fact that Woody has a good chance of being replaced after this season (perhaps by Ducasse), I would say that Moore at LG and Slauson at RG would be the best configuration for both the running game and the passing game, because while Moore isn't asked to pull often, if you pay attention, he's got lateral speed up the frickin' wazoo. That would make Slauson a one trick pony, though, and would leave us with a second year starter and a first time starter on the right side of the line next year in Slauson and Ducasse. Slauson learning LG is great for his versatility in the future. TL;DR - Cocks.
