First of all, nice to see you around here KJ. Hope all is well! I haven't heard from you in a long while.

Second, it's nice to see Woody getting good press. He has become a fantastic NFL owner. He did give up on moving the Jets back to NY a little too quickly, but that was early on in his ownership. I've seen him sitting in the box with Chrebet and other old Jets legends, showing that he has embraced his franchises history, but has also worked very hard to change the culture here. Rex was his boy, and I believe he told Tannenbaum to go hard for Sanchez. He knows that not only does a charismatic franchise QB sell tix, but he wins games, which sells the most tix.

Woody has become a top 10 owner in this league.

See if he still does once the PSLs are sold. He never spent a dime in the off season until last year. I for one don't think he will again once the stadium is sold.

Really man, it's ridiculous. The guy wants to make money, just like everyone else. It's not like he upped and moved the team to Utah or something. He's spent mucho dollars to make mucho dollars and in the process has given this team some good players.

I think it's cool he went out there and played a snap or two.

People make me nuts. Someone mistakenly reposts something that they thought wasn't posted so EVERYONE ELSE CAN READ IT AS WELL, and people jump all over them for it.

Woody is a great NFL owner and I couldn't be happier he owns the Jets. The hatred for him on this board is one of the most absurd things going on here, which is saying an awful lot.

Too bad Leon Hess didn't have his head frozen. We could have his head as the owner and we would have never known the difference from having a living Leon Hess. Then they'd have something to bitch about.

Come one JJ, my comment was (I thought) fairly obviously a joke.

yeah people are dicks around here sometimes. everyones like "HELLO WTF USE THE SEARCH OPTION FOR ANY SINGLE THOUGHT YOU MIGHT WANT TO DISCUSS! YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE YOUR OWN INITIATIVE AND GET FEEDBACK!? WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS A FORUM?"

    lol yeah I totally agree.

unless its multiple "TRADE FOR" or "FA POSSIBILITY?" that get posted ad nauseaum

some people dont understand that not everyone will scroll through 2 pages of topic titles before trying to voice their own opinion, or share something they think a few people might find interesting.

    whatever. shit happens.

This story says a lot more about Rex as a coach than it does about Woody as an owner.

Since Woddy has owned the team, the Jets have been more relevant this decade than all the Hess years combined.

He actually knows what wins - a franchise QB, and has drafted two of them in 10 years. He's looking for a superbowl.

He has spent the money on the free agents needed. His only downfall has been coaching selections - which is the Jets MO at this point. This new hire - this Rex Ryan guy - seems to be a home run so far... that new QB of his seems to be the same as well.

he gets it. The man wants to walk into the owners meeting with a fat ring on his finger.

But he loves making money, so why does anyone expect not to get fucked by him at every turn?

I think everyone should hit control/command F to search before they type, for something like Woody, or something else. If it's not on the front page anymore, I don't get as annoyed at it.

Really, in an ideal world, everyone would just make their their thread titles more descriptive. I HATE when people post super vague post titles. I feel strongly that if people posted more descriptive thread titles, people would make less duplicate threads, and hopefully just less threads, period.

I mean, just post what the thread is about in the title! Don't make me click to find out what the thread is about. Duplicate threads are likely to happen when threads are like "Guess who the Jets signed?" or something along those lines. Then people might search for a particular term or glance over a page, and they still might not know they're posting a duplicate.

Thanks Tony, I have not been posting much anywhere. Arthritis all over my neck and back makes it uncomfortable to sit at a computer. How are you and your back?

I agree about our owner. I loved reading the article I posted because it shows that he is a humble guy that can relate to the team and its members. They in turn will relate to him. That is how to spell: TEAM!

Its absurd. Perhaps some of the people knocking him do not remember what it was like around here for the previous century with Hess...who was a good man..but a terrible owner.

Woody might fail here and there but he never quits. The posters that use to accuse him of bringing Favre in here to sell PSL's were the funniest of them all. Like anyone believed Favre might be here for 3 seasons.

Woody has a gunslinger mentality (and yes...even when it comes to taking our money too). I would rather hangout with a gunslinger then a thumb sucker any day of the week.

He has realized and been smart enough to keep a solid gm...but hasnt had solid coaches..and has rolled through them to get the right guy at a pace none of us long time suffering Jet fans can recognize.

He never stands pat..and he spends at any cost to make his team better. He suffered through the learning process and has become like TONY mentioned, one of the top 10 owners in the NFL.....and he keeps rising in my opinion with moves like that thread article reveals.

What's wrong with wanting to make money? Woody Johnson owns the Jets as a fun investment, not some kind of higher calling. He's spared no expenses in bringing in top talent, and he moved swiftly to fix the Jets stadium problem, even if it wasn't the solution that many of us wanted. Take it from an Isles fan perspective, the faster one acts on something like that the better off it is for everyone.

People can hate on Woody all they want, it doesn't make any difference to me. Just remember that if he didn't own the team, James Dolan would. Count your blessings.
