The only thing I want them to obliterate from 40 years ago is the margin of victory in the Super Bowl!
I think the reason he hasn't been throwing the deep ball is because the offense is working so well without it. I think when the deep ball is the best option, he can get it there no problem. Cotchery's one handed catch against the Pats was pretty deep. The short passes and running games has been so successful and kept the other team's offense off the field so well, that there is no reason to change anything that they are doing, but I do think he'll connect on a few deep ones before the season is over.
Amen buddy. There's alot of comparisons being made to teams of the past but in the end I want the only comparison to be of Super Bowl-calibre.
Exactly. When we tried the deep ball that's when Favre was throwing INTs and was getting sacked a ton. Did everyone just forget all about that?!?!?!?!!?
It's more a testament to how great that Namath Jets team was. That is absurd, to put up 30 a game back in 69. Imagine if Namath was playing now with all the new rules? Back when Namath played there was no roughing the passer, and you could mug WRs. I don't think PI existed.
I think markcsoul's theory is more likely. Favre's receivers last year had no problem doing what you say defenses won't allow him to do. And he even played a couple of the same teams. It's not some random accident that Green Bay receivers led the league in YAC (yards after catch) last year you know. They got by people, all the time, especially Jones and Jennings.
Yeah I agree with that. I always felt PH's 12 game point record wasn't really broken where it took 16 games and Rice had what 22 TDs in a 12 game season and Moss 23 in 16. So who had a better year? Rice IMO. The points record is fine but the benchmark is how many points per game played and 30 or better is doable but for now the record is held by a 60s Jet team.
