he actually played very well in the playoffs I believe. when Jimmy went down there were reports that Pool had to "learn" defensive scheme/playbook. he got alot better when he did that...

I cannot support that, Neither Lowery or Pool were spring chickens, they should have been used to understanding what was expected in a pro D. Especially Lowery who had a year playing in Rex's scheme (even though it was at corner). Also Lowery played safety in JUCO (yeah not pro, but still knows what is required) Both guys are good, but they can both be upgraded.

I truly believe that if/when free agency begins and we are allowed to make trades, FS is the position that will be addressed.

I dont think we have the trading material or money to get a FS. Unless we want to lose Cro or Edwards

Oh yeah, I agree that FS can be upgraded... I just feel there are other positions that are more upgradable and thus should be higher priorities.

We are definitely drafting a safety just not with our first rounder.

I wasn't really getting at the talent, I was just saying I wouldnt say not learning the play book as a valid reason for not playing as well as they could

wasn't there talk of moving Cro to safety at some point anyway? Or am I just imagining that?

the only people talking about that are the people who somehow thought we were signing Scrabble (Nnamdi Asomougha) in addition to retainging Cro, then rather than put cro in the slot, they said make him a safety. Since there is no chance of that in any way shape or form, its safe to say Cro won't be playing safety any time soon...

I felt that Brodney really stepped up his game towards the end of the year. We have some good hitting safeties in Smith and Digs, but we need a safety that is good in coverage.

    First post...hey everyone.

I'm really surprised that some feel the need to draft a safety in the first round. Clearly that is not necessarily the case in this thread, but Kiper in particular has had the Jets picking Moore in 3 out of his last 4 mock drafts.

I accept his view and views of others on the board that see SS and FS as an issue, but given injury, age and the mega bust that was Gholston it seems imperative that the Jets improve their front 7.

Now that doesn't mean I would complain if the Jets went along with Kiper's prediction and selected Moore, but it would seem puzzling in light of more glaring needs.
