I like Miller alot, but you just about contradict yourself here...You're saying Miller is still learning the position and making mistakes, which is true. But Vilma isn't learning and making mistakes? He's had QB hurries, an INT, and 2 fumble recovories. I'm not defending his play, but alot of your posts lately have been relegated to Vilma being nothing more than a backup...

He's in a new defense for the 1st time, and with the DLine in front of him, it's pretty hard to make plays...

Again, he's been very average, Eric Barton has definately outshined him this year, but Vilma is learning, as is the rest of the defense...

CHAD has not been that good in his last 4 games. In his first 4, he was much better. He still has not beaten a quality team!

youre right about me being very down on vilma lately....and I understand hes playing a new position but his mistakes have been over pursuing and missing tackles...I dont care what system youre playing, those are inexcuseable.....and this is a guy who was a pro bowl sub last year thus making him a much bigger disappointment that a justin Miller

what makes you think he'll be fine? its not like you have to learn the position like other rookies in this league.....kick the fuckin ball, thats all....he doesnt have the leg strength and hes not gonna gain it.....umless he hits the roids, which by the way, I am all for

not true, there is a major difference between kicking in college and the NFL.

In college you can use your own personal, beat up ball that you like; where as in the NFL you have to use the "K" ball, which is fatter and moves very differently

    DEFENSE:
I have been disappointed with Vilma this season. I never expected much out of Hobson or Thomas, so I can't really call them disappointments. I'm a little disappointed with Robertson and Kimo, and I'm really just disgusted with Ellis at this point. DEs like Ellis are a dime a dozen. Justin Miller does not belong in an NFL secondary... but man, he's electrifying on kick returns.

I have been impressed with Barton, Dyson and Rhodes... that's about it.

    OFFENSE:
I've been very pleased with Mangold, Moore, and D'Brick at times. Coles and Cotch have been the impetus for this offense. Brad Smith and Leon Washington have each shown flashes of brilliance, but I think its too early to declare either of them a major surprise. I like Chris Baker as a blocker and pass catcher.

I think the Jets running game would benefit greatly from a bigger, stronger, FULLBACK... an offensive position often overlooked. I don't think Askew is the answer here.

I agree with that...And it goes both ways with him...For example.

If Vilma overpursues a run and lets a 13 yard run go, it's because he overpursued. If he makes a tackle 8 yards downfield, it's because he didn't disect the play quick enough and was slow to react...The missed tackles has been very weird, for a guy known to wrap up and usually make the stop.

His play has been average, and that is putting it nicely...But with a full year, and a much better DLine in front of him, most notably a NT in 07', I think his play will definately improve.

With that said, Vilma is in the 3rd year of his 5-year rookie contract...And i'd assume he would like a new deal since he has had 2 very good seasons, and although this season is very par, he will be in the top 5 in tackles...So that could give his agent leverage on the contract...
