If we could ink Brunell and get a 6th round pick for Clemens, I would consider that a win. An extra pick for maybe a project type at CB/DT/OL

At least the vet would bridge the gap to the 3rd-string QB. Even if he only lasts a couple of games, it's better than going straight to Clemens or Ainge.

I think the more likely scenario is signing Brunell and then dropping the tender offer to Clemens and letting him walk for nothing . Now if that happened (and he signed somewhere), would he count as an FA lost for another potential vet depth signing?

I like Brunell and b/c he is at that age where he doesn't need to play in preseason it would also give Ainge and O'Connell lots of PT in the Preseason.

I don't understand this. Why would we bring in Brunell and have no interest in bringing in Bulger? Unless its a money thing it makes zero sense to me.

The vet is taking up a roster space that would be better used on developing a QB that might help us moving forward. If the Jets really don't want to go into next season with Clemens and Ainge as the backups then they should be identifying somebody they want to develop and getting them on the roster instead.

The Patriots had a dynasty solely because they wanted a developmental QB holding the clipboard behind Bledsoe. If they'd had Brunell or Bulger as the backup there is no way they win even one Super Bowl let alone three.

The 49ers had a double-dip dynasty because they wanted a star possibility behind Montana in the event he got hurt.

The Steelers had a dynasty in the 70's because they let two young guys duke it out, picked the winner and then got mostly lucky on injuries with him. Terry Bradshaw's backups were his age or younger EVERY year of the Steelers dynasty, including the years when he was throwing picks and making mistakes. The guys behind him were young, erratic and learning on the job as they went just like he was.

At this pt Clemens aint worth a 7th rounder. I'd trade him for a bag of balls if we could get it.

I see your thinking here, Colintes, but I'm still not sure this would be enough to help the Ghost.

Fuck that. Get Bulger. This guy didnt play from 2006-to 2009. He played one game at week 17 with the saints 102 yards 50% completed, and 1 int. 3years missing. I'd love for him to mentor Sanchez, but I doubt he could play if Mark goes down.

ABC- Anyone But Clemens. Burnell is not my first choice, gee I don't have one, but just the fact the Jets know Clemens sucks and need to replace him with anyone is good enough. And Clemens will be cut, no one would give a pick for him. He will be following our assistant special teams coach to the new league.

Why not Ainge or O'Connell? It's strange we gave up a draft pick for O'Connell in order for him to be a 4th string QB 2 years in a row (which is essentially a waste of a roster spot).
