Do I hate the fuk? Yep...but I can see through it. Maybe since I mostly bitch about the guy it seems like It's clouded but I've given him kudos a few times, not often but... Anyway, My point is when it's time for the JETS to give a young drafted player top $$$ they balk every time if they are deserving to get paid like a top player @ their position. We NEVER do that. Anytime it's time to pay one of our young studs they fold and wipe their asses with them. I just think it's refreshing to see Magold get his big $$$. Ironically, D'Bricks contract is pretty wack with all the Skill $$ & Rolling guaranteees put in it. Again, the JETS showing they do not want to give $$... Other than Leon, all the others you named were not trying to get top deals(Rightly so)... This is a rare time one of our best players that we Drafted actually got bank.
So with Nick Mangold in the fold for a very long time it got me thinking: it's been a while since we had shitty play from the C position.
A true jet in the mould of Klecko , he doesn't moan , does his job and really doesn't get the props he deserves..until now No 74 will be on the Jets ring of honour in 15 years!
^ This offseason is now a masterful one for Tanny. If Revis comes in at the more reasonable rate, it'll be pure genius.
AS PER TWITTER 2 MINUTES AGO nickmangold Sign, sealed, and delivered #Jets fans. Thank you all and I couldn't be more excited about being a part of the #Jets for a long time!
-Being the highest paid center wasn't important, but happy with it -Wanted long term security in one place (with the Jets) -Revis holdout is not really an issue in the locker room. -Mangold was not trying to take a shot at Revis with the "I'm not the type to holdout" -Carolina game caused a few concerns. Poor execution and miss-communications. Hopes that the next game will be an opportunity to improve and forget about the Panthers game -Red Zone offense needs better execution and needs to be more precise -Mangold is "immensely" better b/c of going against Jenkins every day -Mangold doesn't know if Revis will be in camp this week. He has heard the rumors, but doesn't know -Thinks Sanchez has improved and is ready for a big year
As I understand it, Brick and Mangold were both given the choice between guaranteeing the contract for injury or skill, but not both. Mangold chose the injury guarantee, Brick chose the skill guarantee.
How do you guys think this signing affects the Revis situation? I think it certainly does put Revis in a box as Mangold is another Jet that is widely acknowledged as being the best in the league. His decision not to hold out but instead, to play and get rewarded is, IMO, an unintended shot accross the bow of the good ship Revis.
I'm happier about this than I would have been about Revis. Mike Tannenbaum can stay our GM forever as far as I'm concerned. He's doing everything right.
