No idea at all but they wouldn't even try to trade for him if they didn't think they could afford him.
I just rattled off a few things off the top of my head and you see how people disputed that. The DLine is in exactly the same shape as the OLine. When all the starters are in, we're in good shape, but we're one muddy-field slip from disaster. There's also Keller's lack of blocking ability. The Wonder Boy new QB has played exactly one series, and made exactly one "nice" pass. Canton here we come! The age on the DL is being waved off. A division that got stronger after we couldn't seal the deal last year is ignored, because, well, F Brady and TO, we got stronger. Jets fans make me laugh. Today it's "We're going to the playoffs!" November it's "Damnit. When does baseball season start again?" As I've said, I'll save my faith in this team for when they prove they deserve it. So far, they haven't.
Saying we are going to win 4 games with the talent of this team is just as ridiculous as anyone saying we are going to make the playoffs. Depth is an issue throughout the league, besides maybe 3 or 4 teams. An average team in this league can win 10 games and make the playoffs, we have seen that first hand many times over the last 7 years. We are not legit contenders yet but there is absolutely no reason(besides devastating injuries) that this team doesn't win 8 games at a minimum. We are lacking depth at the most important units(OL & DL) but the starters, especially on OL are one of the best in the league. We have pretty solid depth throughout the rest of the team, we are lacking a #1 WR and are pretty much fucked if Keller misses any time.
And I'm saying I think we're going to win 4 games. In a perfect world, every starter would play every snap of every game, and we'd win 12. This world ain't perfect. 4 wins.
AliotheFool is trying to fill the Champ void on this board. You are going to have to do a little better though, at least Champ brought some kind of logic to his posts.
I don't need to fill Champ's shoes. I'm just being flat out honest. From the things I see, this team is going to have a badly losing season, and people will be jumping off bridges in November. I, on the other hand, will just be sitting back and enjoying whatever good games we have; comfortable in the knowledge that we have a fantastic base of talent, a hungry new coach, a deep draft upcoming, and an uncapped year approaching. This team will blow the doors off everyone within the next 3 years. But that's not going to start this year. I really don't give a flying rat's ass if anyone agrees with me or not.
^^ if you bump it to 7 games i'll agree with you completely. this is an odd numbered year as well - that usually means the jets have a losing season.
Alio The Fool, does ur theory apply to the Jets only. Players get injured on every team and it weakens every single team. Why are you assuming that only Jets players will get injured and the other teams will get an edge? Injuries are part of the game and are unknown. U can not base ur judgement of a team simply becuase u think someone might get injured and we'll be a 4 win max team. Other teams players get injured aswell. If u have 5 starters going down on a team, that team will suffer. Patriots won 11 games after a pefect regular season (by far) the year before simply becuase they had one major injury. When predicting, you just can not take injuries into account. It won't be a realistic prediction...unless u're the god...?
I think this report is bogus. People, the Jets are going to try to grind out 17-14 games. Not having a game-breaking WR is not that big of deal with this philosophy. If you look around the league many teams are in the same boast WR wise as the Jets....Bears, Giants, Titans, Ravens are a few that live by the same philosophy. Furthermore, I would contend Jerricho Cotchery is the best WR on the above teams and Dustin Keller is the best receiving TE (Olsen of CHI is pretty good too). We will be fine and no trade is imminent.
No one fills the Champ void. No one. Champ is unique and one of a kind. No one even comes close. Impossible.
To add to that point, who was the Ravens top guy last year. Easy answer: Derrick Mason. Who were thier #2 and 3 guys? Unless you spend way too much time watching and reading about football you probly don't know and for good reason. Now I'm not saying I would not welcome a guy like Marshall or Bowe with open arms, but I am saying that unless the cost in draft picks is right I see no reason to do this. We could use an upgrade at the receiver position. We also may get along jsut fine this year. Its an unknown for now but so are a lot of things under a new head coach. One thing we do know and that needs to be adressed is depth in several areas. Trading away multiple picks is already showing in this area. While I would not take back the trade up for any of Revis, Harris, Sanchez or Greene, I do think the time to start stockpiling picks and depth is now. We have a ton of talent on this team. We need talented backups to be able to step in and lower seeded first day picks to get talent at a lesser cost than the average first rounder. Doing this makes both injuries and the cap if its re-established easier to handle as an organization.
