Rookie QB. Rookie HC. One of our 2 best LBs out for a month. General unhappiness at RB. No punter of any worth. An aging DL, with a NT that can't be expected to play every down and nothing of any worth behind to spell him. A WR corps consisting of Cotchery and Keller and no one else. A stronger overall division, that now adds T.O. and Tom Brady back. A tough schedule. I don't know. Call me crazy, but that doesn't look very playoff-friendly to me. Besides, I'm sick and tired of going into every season sunshining away. When this team proves to me that they want to be champions, I'll renew my faith. Until then, I think they're far from a playoff team.
I doubt we'll win or lose many games because of the punter. And whether or not our RB's are happy shouldn't matter as long as they have their ass on the field. May be motivation for a big contract. Guys that play poorly don't get big contracts next year. As far as the other stuff, all valid points. I still say we are looking at 7-9 wins
Rookie QB. - Could go either way. They'll be run happy anyway Rookie HC. - Can't be worse than our past 2 rookie HCs. Could have a serious defense becuase of him. One of our 2 best LBs out for a month. - 12 games left to play after that. General unhappiness at RB. - Does not equate to poor performance. No punter of any worth. - But on the other side we have a return guy that burns and a possibly very strong D which might make up for the poor field position. An aging DL, with a NT that can't be expected to play every down and nothing of any worth behind to spell him. - I don't know about aging being a concern, but I share your concerns with Jenkins 100% A WR corps consisting of Cotchery and Keller and no one else. - Run happy O and nobody is saying these two guys won't perform A stronger overall division, that now adds T.O. and Tom Brady back. - I'm sorry but you can fill the Bills up with 53 TOs and it won't make a shit worth of difference when the coach is a friggin disaster. Brady is a concer, which is nothing new. A tough schedule - Tough by last year's record. Anyway, welcome to the Jets. You can never feel good unless Bill Parcells is running the team.
I agree that it's always a work in progress, but I disagree that you need to work on all your starters before you work on backups. You absolutely can do both, in both the draft & FA. The Jets could pick up a solid but old OL to play backup Center even if their WRs need some work. I also think Tanny can upgrade the positions of weakness without giving away draft picks.
I Have to agree with this ...these guys are young too ..would rather have a proven 25yo that can help our rookie QB out.
The Jets would be better off finding someone who can stretch the field. Keller is a good TE (if the QB uses him) and Cotchery is fine. However, as "a run the ball team", someone has to get down the field. Hixon from the Giants would be a good addition with good speed and a reasonable price. Besides, if Mayock says Bowe is too dumb, would he be smart enough in NY? Marshall seems like a stretch in his final year.
Bowe for Clowney and a #2? Bowe was a #1 and he has lived up to it. Don't think we could get him for just a #2. Can we trade any of our picks with the rest of the Lito deal up in the air?
this is the type of deal I am talking about. we have a million young unknown WR's. offer the chiefs a #2 and their pick of the group, or maybe offer them 2 of the group of brad smith, Chansi Stuckey, David Clowney, Andraue Allison and Wallace Wright. if we pick up Bowe, we have to cut at least one of the above who would you cut? the chiefs are happy because they also get their choice....
I understand everybody wants to save our picks because we have no depth. But we are going to need to draft a WR with our 1st or 2nd rounder next year, so why not spend a 1st or 2nd on a PROVEN WR right now?
Rookie QB. The way Favre played last yr, Sanchez won't much of a downgrade. Rookie HC. Probably still better than Mangini One of our 2 best LBs out for a month. Gholston should be ok for 4 games. We got Bart Scott aswell, who didn't have last yr. General unhappiness at RB. They will still play. Baseless. No punter of any worth. Reggie Hodges isn't exactly a game changer anyways. But Punter? Seriously? An aging DL, with a NT that can't be expected to play every down and nothing of any worth behind to spell him. We took a hit at the DL depth this yr for sure, but we didn't lose much though. A WR corps consisting of Cotchery and Keller and no one else. We lost Coles. Keller should be involved even more. Stuckey and Clowney are more experienced now. Also, we would be running a smash mouth offense, so no big loss there. A stronger overall division, that now adds T.O. and Tom Brady back. We got way better at secondary this yr than last yr. A tough schedule. It is inflated since we would be playing dolphins and pats 4 times = combined record of 46-18. We lost a DE, WR and a QB from the starters. We got a LB, Safety, and CB. We also drafted a QB that looked pretty good in his first nfl series and should be fine in a run first offense. We drafted a third RB to backup the AFC champ. Picked up a DE who won't be much worse than the one we lost. We fired a p*ssy HC and got an aggressive minded HC. We are better than last yr IMO. I say 8-10 wins. Anything under 8 would be a disappointment.
That, my friend, is something people don't get around here. They think we lose a draft pick, but they don't realize we also gain a player. Its turns out to be more than even since no draft pick is guaranteed whereas u know what u are getting with a proven player. I am in favor of drafting a pick a player.
a tweet from sportsline. Doesn't this sound familiar..basically the exact same thing Cutler said. "WR Brandon Marshall said Wednesday that he and the Broncos have "trust issues" and gave no indication the relationship can be fixed. Marshall is unhappy with everything from his contract to the team's medical and public relations staff."
How do you sign Marshall to an extension knowing its an uncapped year next season? Isn't that the same heartburn Tanny is having with Washington right now? You'd have no idea what his market value would be but you do know how much Marshall would sulk if he thinks he's underpaid. I'd like to think we learned something from the Farve adventure as far as trading DP's for guys that don't stay around. There's no guarantee we can sign Marshall but we know we can sign a WR in the '10 draft. I just don't see Denver making this deal an easy one for either Marshall or any team that wants him.
Obviously we wouldn't make a trade without the opportunity to sign him to an extension as part of the deal.
