McCareins and Hatchette were unproven depth receivers that never panned out. Marshall is a Pro Bowl wideout, and he is very dynamic. I'm not in favor of a Marshall trade, but the only thing that is comparable is that a draft pick would be involved.
Marshall's a clown but he's a great player. If all this nonsense lowers his trade value I'd be all for it.

Trading for a star wide receiver is an extremely risky move that might not even matter in the end if we have a breakdown on the line or at QB for the season. The Jets would be better off saving the 2010 picks this will cost them to bolster what should be a better opportunity in 2010 once Sanchez gets his feet on the ground. If we lose anybody on the offensive line to injury we're probably capped at 7 or 8 wins next year and maybe several fewer than that. Giving up a top 10 pick plus for Marshall to win that number of games would be a nightmare of a deal and it would set us back again. Sometimes you just need to let the pieces fall in place naturally. I know this is not a Jets notion, but that's at least partly why we keep losing 10-12 games every other year.
