If he ends up spending a lot of time on the bench for them this season, any chance the Broncos just let him go in the offseason w/o franchising him? If so, the Jets should offer him any contract he wants....a good young QB/WR combo would be awesome
He'd have the same deal as Leon, if I'm not mistaken. If he's a RFA then there's no way that the Broncos wouldn't put the highest tender, which would mean a 1 and 3.
Good call. This team is going in the right direction, but certainly not one player away from a SB. Why pay Marshall a huge contract that you might regret down the line. Sure, he's a great receiver, but he's also a real wildcard off the fireld.
Can a player be traded twice in the same off-season...? it would be fun if Denver finally got Cassel and the Chiefs got Marshall... Marshall and Bowe on the same team would recreate what the Cardinals have in Fitz and Boldin... Haley would be happy
Marshall will not be going anywhere for less than a first. Moss was traded for a 4th, but he had a couple of very off years in Raiderland before that happened. Marshall is a very young physical receiver just entering his prime. If he is moved it will be similar to what the Cards wanted for Boldin, which is a first + a 3rd or 4th. I highly doubt less than that is getting it done.
I think we should just stick to what we have not and see where it goes. Dirty is going to need a year or so before he is truly ready anyway.
There are talks about Croyle playing well... Thigpen was the starter last year... or yo could include Orton since he sucked bad in the preseason opener... many options...
Dwayne Bowe isn't going anywhere. He's the most dangerous player on that offense. Haley is just trying to pull of the cliched, overused "Lookey! Ain't nobody special on this team!" bullshit that every wannabe-Parcells has tried in the past. Marshall is gone. How much it costs to get him will drop steadily as he becomes more and more of a distraction.
Marshall is what we need right now, he has talent and the attitude that goes with it. Cotchery is a #2 WR and may slip to a #3 with the other WR's. With Marshall the #2 WR and #3 Wr position are up for grabs in my opinion with Cotchery having the nod at #2 WR. We need that same attidude on offense that we have on defense, we need bad asses! I have not seen the highlight on Bowe but we need to get someone in here now to take a major step if we are ever going to get to the next level. He is the real deal and i'm sick and tired of our rivals taking a chance on Moss and Owens and we continue to stand pat and watch them chances continue to beat the dog crap out of us time and time again. MOSS..OWENS..WTF both are in our division and we don't have any answer but try our best and load up on a suspect secondary trying to find the right combinations to make a very limited college try,and they load us up with other talented WRs who continue to kill us dead and all we do is blame the rookie CB or blame someone out of position or blame whoever is playing CB at that time(revolving door). We need a monster of our own and answer back in response! Do it...and do it now!
Actually, I think you might be on to something with attitude. I think Ryan wouldn't mind a couple of offensive people with attitude to go along with his defense.
My prediction is that if Marshall is traded it will be for conditional picks. Something like a 1st and a 3rd if he makes the Pro Bowl next season, a 2nd plus a later round pick if he doesn't make the Pro Bowl but starts at least 12 games for the team that acquires him (the recent Boldin cutoff), and a 2nd in any other situation (e.g. doesn't start 12 games or isn't resigned or whatever.) That's an acceptable deal for a good team to make for him, although it is probably a terrible deal for a bad team to make.
