Blue, Calm down. I of course did not expect you to say doing nothing was acceptable. We agree on that.
The cap rolls over so each player you sign subtracts from both the 2014 cap and the roll over you'd get added to 2015. Every signing has future implications. Also people need to realize giving CJ for 9-10 million is just a sure fire way to get him cut before next season. 2014 will show exactly how valuable to the team he is, and it's not going to equal the second half of that contract.
I generally agree with this post, but just wanted to note it is not widely accepted that Keller, Thomas and Wilson should be viewed as busts, and even i would say they are not nearly so egregious as Sanchez, Gholston and Robertson. Of the first three I would say Keller was a disappointment, but I feel uncomfortable saying he was a bust. Thomas they actually got some use out of, like Wilson, although both were busts in the sense that they well underperformed their draft status. By the definition you applied, though, they all were busts.
I would take Orton over Smith because right now Orton is the better Qb. Who cares about "advantage"? What is it with Smith Fans and the whole fairness issue? As John F. Kennedy once said, life is unfair.
Maybe ,maybe not but I get the feeling the balls in CJs court now if he wants to accept the offer whatever that offer is that we made
The Jets were patient with mark Sanchez. How did that work out? In any event I have never said that the Jets should already give up on Smith. I just think it more likely he will fail than succeed, but recognize that is only my opinion. As for upside, you can say perhaps that a rookie has more upside potential than someone like Orton, but that he will achieve that is hardly a given.
so if Johnson puts up 1200 combined yds, and gives opposing defenses a headache trying to contain him, then you wouldn't keep him another year at 4.5M? i would. if he gives us some solid play this season, but you can see the explosiveness decline as the year went on, then maybe you cut him. it would still have been worth the 4.5M for 2014. the argument to simply save 4.5M for 2015 is a weak one imo.. you have to play for the present as well as build for the future.
How can you possibly profess to know how good or bad he will be in 2014? He had 1422 combined yards last year with a bad knee for 13 of those games so how many will he have this year?
Do you know how to read posts on pages before the one you are on? If you did, and read previous posts, you might know why he has been mentioned here. Message board police are always amusing.
