Not an Idzik fan at this point but I think a 3 year deal at 4.5-5 with maybe 7-8 guaranteed and incentives will get it done.
I was thinking the same, maybe with an option year in the contract for 5 mil. Hopefully the guaranteed money doesn't approach 10 mil.
Its a win-win situation in my eyes... We either get CJ and have a good one two punch with him and Ivory, or we don't and Powell continues to develop behind Ivory and we see what we have in Goodson. I am down for either.
Give the guy a 2 year deal worth 8-9 but have the bulk (6-7) in this year. That way if it doesn't work out you dump him.
Why do you think we will ever see Goodsen again with his trial coming up in May and no plea deal left on the table? I'm pretty sure the Jets don't think they will ever see him again which is why Johnson is visiting today.
So if Idzik lands CJ, what's the criticism? He will have signed the best running back available in free agency, the best quarterback available in free agency, and the best wide receiver available (at the time) in free agency. Is it him not going after Revis? Because if that's your only criticism you have almost no leg to stand on. I think it's very obvious that bringing Revis back made zero sense for this ball club in the direction they are going in.
If we do wind up signing Johnson I'm wondering where that leaves Powell? Goodson is here on the cheap so I don't think he's an automatic cut even with his legal problems. I'm assuming we keep Powell but I'm curious
That depends on how the salary is structured. id be ok with 10 mill guaranteed over 3 years lil more then 3 mill a year with a back loaded salary. Could help us long term and make cj feel like he has one last pay day.
My criticism is that he traded our best corner, cut our second best and has done nothing to replace Cromartie..this with a defense that depends on corners to make it work.
So how is this fuck head going to spin CJ visiting the Jets today? They aren't interested but he's in the building. Lick my ass crack iBob.
Powell isn't going anywhere if CJ signs, he's the perfect backup in this situation. Goodson's the odd man out.
