What part of this is a rebuilding year and we are not going to win don't you people understand. Wr and Rb will be addressed in the draft and offseason next year. Once you accept the fact that this is the reality of the Jets you will be able to sleep nights.
Wow, things are already dire after the first preseason game. I'm curious what people were expecting to happen this year? Just because the team finally had a real training camp doesn't mean they're going to win 12 games. The "sky is falling" reaction after the first regular season game last year was understandable, but I don't get this at all.
I can't speak for other posters, but I do think no matter how bad we may have expected them to be in this "Rebuilding year"....you always hold out some hope that they'll surprise you and play better than expected.....I know preseason means shiite, but they looked pretty piss poor all around, thus solidifying at least in my mind that they will truly be a pretty poor teams this year, not a shocking revelation, but that game helped reality hit home ......it is a little tough to swallow the fact they have really no decent skill players on offense.
alright 1 chad sucks we got that but everything else. You cant say is totally true. Its there first game they need to gel as a d in the new scheme, and so does the o line. give it time
There is no reason to not hold out hope. It was the first exhibition game! We ran pure vanilla and ran it badly, so what. At the end of the day I still hold out hope. Hope that we might be good and real hope that even if we stink we will at least have a team that's watchable for 3 hours a week. Believe me I have seen plenty of Jet teams that weren't very good that were very entertaining and many Jet teams that were okay but I would have been more entertained mowing my lawn.
Isn't an issue at all? The guy hardly got hit, he got hit one freakin time and all of a sudden it's, "is he hurt more then they let on," and "he's getting therapy on the shoulder again," The season hasn't even started and this nonsense is all over the place,,, and you have him saying, "i'm ready to go baby," like that's some big deal. It's a joke and it's indeed a major issue.
You can choose to hang on the word of every media person out there, or you can ignore the hoopla and just watch the game and see if he's starting or not. People whining about him are just making it more of an issue that it already is. We're rebuilding - deal with it.
I have to wonder why folks want to turn Kellen Clemens into David Carr in his first year. Do you guys REALLY want to see Clemens get the sh't beat out of him before his second season? Do you REALLY want to take the kid's confidence and flush it down the toilet of a 4-12 season? What is with some of you? Too much Green Koolaid spiked with Stoly I would suppose. This is a rebuilding year folks like it or not. Some of you are asking waaay too much of this team and its CS. Give it a rest. For once in what promises to be a rebuilding year, relax and enjoy the process instead of taking snapshots of this game or that and beating it to death on the MB. Its a rebuilding year. Quit bitchin already!!!
I grew up with Namath who started from game 3 after getting a taste in the first couple of games. The Jets weren't very good but they were the single most exciting team, even lossing. I can't stand the current brand of football that the Jets have been playing for the last couple of years. I look at the Bengals, even the Giants and salivate for a team that has a QB with some balls. I want to be frozen to the TV or my seat and not be able to turn away when my team is on O. Clemens made a couple of throws that Pennington can't even think about. He did look awfully small out there and frankly scares me. I would rather be scared than getting my snacks when the Jets are on O.
And you've seen how much footage of these players so far.....one quarter, maybe less? For Christs sake give me a break man. The Cardinals beat the defending SB champs the other night, maybe you should become an Arizona fan, because apparently they are awesome.
you did not answer the question. Do you want see Clemens get beat on all year behind a rookie line with a rookie coach? Or would you rather see Chad get beat on this year?
This isnt meant totally for you...its for all the "wow..we are as bad as everyone says we are". The easiest thing for this new regime to do coming off last year is rework contracts...cut players...free up money...which they have done. The concerns of posters for this upcoming year doesnt stop there. So the only thing I can take from that is most of you are not happy that the Jets didnt spend all that savings on free agents..correct? Plus..they should have drafted a running back with the first pick..and a receiver with the second first round pick. Those that feel that way would be harping how the Jets could have one of the worst offensive lines in the history of the NFL. Exactly where did the Jets go wrong. Dont just throw out there the obvious "we have no receivers..we have no running backs..we have no qb's". Be specific..and perhaps you might get an answer other than "we are rebuilding" which is short for "you guys are nuts". Some are just being kind. Im not  You guys are crazy. Lets say the Jets traded their first two picks for Reggie Bush...would you have been happy then? Exactly who would be blocking for him. If the Jets would have made that trade...If I were the coach....I would have built a little bubble around him and then taped a sign on it saying "do not open until 2009". Patience. Most of us promise to join you in the middle of next year with all the criticisms, darts and arrows. For now..just sit back and watch what they are doing...it might work..it might not...one thing is for sure, if they followed the advise of the screamers on this board...its a guarantee for failure.
I'd rather see exciting Jets football too WB but, that's not the product that's on the field. We don't have exciting talent anywhere on the roster. We have a roster full of mediocre, competent guys. No superstars. What that results in is a bland team that perhaps will bore you to death. No excitment unless the other team is as bland as we are. Then it becomes a death struggle. So if you're looking for excitment, you might be glad you got the Sunday Ticket so you can watch other games. You watch the Jets, you get boring, dink and dunk football. It is what it is.. If there was one color to describe the Jets, it would be beige...
Thats a good criticism. I couldnt help laughing to myself that when Chad goes back to throw..its as if his arm was designed only..only..to make that throw. Its not even a full release..its the definition of a dink. With that said, Im giving him this year, in a new system, to see if that arm can do anything different. I doubt it. I think its time for the line to form apologizing to Paul Hackett. I watched highlights of other games this weekend and all you see is guys running routes of 7 yards..and slants..and that motion that Chad has is quite unique...in a really bad way. One time...once..I just want to see a Jet receiver catch a little slant pattern and actually run more than 5 yards with the ball. It really is happening all over the NFL...I swear.
Lets wait until we have Clemens starting at QB with Smith in the slot and Coles and Cotch on the outside before we go to the Biege pants with beige tops.
I don't get it either. Pre-season is only judgemental in the sense of analyzing technique and general team coordination. The score is meaningless. I think we are fine. I also am going to say we will definitely be better in the first regular season game than we were last year. We absolutely stank in all aspects of football when we played KC in the opener last year. The bottom line, is we were completely, totally unprepared to play football, both physically and mentally. The head coach and staff are totally to blame for that. That's part of the reason they are not here anymore.
Just because the Jets have been vanilla in the recent past doesn't mean that's how they'll be until the end of time. I was young at the time but I remember some pretty damn exciting Jets teams in the 80s. I think how the QB situation is handled will say alot about this regime and if they really are as forward thinking as many fans hope they are. I don't see what's to be gained from having Pennington back there with no running game throwing 5 yard outs all year long. Let's see what we have in Clemens before he's got half a season left until his rookie contract is up.
