I'm starting to feel a little optimistic that Sanchez can make it to 8. Best case for this to happen is Tyson Jackson going to KC at 3. With that happening it might be too hard for Cleveland & Seattle to pass on any combination of Curry/Crabtree/Monroe. My hopeful top 7. Stafford Smith Jackson Crabtree Curry Monroe/Smith Macklin Jets trade up for Sanchez.
That's all he's done at the college level. Winning games shouldn't be placed solely on his shoulders, but I certainly believe he can lead this team.
If there is anything that can make me throw my computer over the balcony it would be trading up to 8 and then taking Crabtree over Sanchez.
I agree. I think Crabtree's going to be bustolicious at the next level and I believe Sanchez will be the great QB to come out of this class.
Not only this class, but next year's as well. In my eyes, he's better than everyone that will be available in 2010...even Sam Bradford.
It's certainly plausible. If he replicated his success this year next year had he stayed at USC, I would definitely say yes. And I think that that was a huge possibility. I don't like this trading up to #2 though and giving up next year's first. Give up other picks, but not next year's first if at all possible.
I can't wait until this draft's over so people can stop fellating Marc Sanchez. Maclin is the #2 rated WR in a draft strongest in WR talent. Maclin averaged 200 all-purpose yards per game in one of the best conferences in college football. Sanchez has had 16 career starts for a USC team loaded at every position on the field. Leinart had more success at USC, and how has he panned out? And Reggie Wayne was a late 1st round pick. So I guess all the GM's in the league who have Maclin as a top 10 pick must be idiots and you the lone voice of wisdom and reason.
Cassel had 0 starts at USC. Leinart is in an ideal situation; don't write him off. Once Warner is finished he can step up and be a great starter still. It is ideal to be able to sit for 2 or 3 years as a backup QB.
This year's draft class has speed at receiver and that's about it. It definitely isn't the strongest position available. The Big 12 is one of the best conferences in football? Really? It has about 5 good teams... Sanchez is 14-2 as a starter and he was in a pro-style system for 4 years at USC. Ever heard of Carson Palmer? Comparing Sanchez to Leinart is ridiculous - they are two completely different quarterbacks. One is cerebral and one is a party boy.
Yeah, but I still wouldn't trade 2 1st round picks to move up to take Matt Cassel. And we'll see how well he performs in KC without a solid D and offensive line.
Sanchez is "cerebral," I like that one. So is Chad Pennington - he was a Rhodes scholar finalist. Joe Namath was a party boy too, but what does that have to do with his ability to play QB? The Leinart - Sanchez comparisons are natural. Nevermind, you convinced me that Maclin is garbage since the "Big 12 has only 5 good teams."
