I agree ,but i'd rather have the FO put players in place for lengthy stays. Continuity is preserved and the team could grow together. Let's stop the patchwork operation and buckle down with younger players. My instinct tells me that the FO is really thinking of this organization in terms of the total picture. Which means live not only for today's team but the team years down the road.

a player like washington can change your whole defense..........with a dominant run stuffing NT, robertson plays better which leads to sacks. and not to mention the improved play it would mean for Vilma who would be able to digest plays in a second with washington taking double teams and Robertson dominating 1 on 1's

oh and um.....lets see we dont have a NT!!!!! oh and maybe washington can teach Pouha a thing or two

so if it came down to Kemo or Washington, who would y'all want?

Obviously, Kemo will command much much more $$$, but he'll be around for a lot longer. and we have the cap room to sign him and outbid other teams. Cleveland can offer more, but maybe he wants to play in NY instead of there. Who knows. I do know that I'd rather have Kemo.

    cheers

Well I'd take Kemo over Ted but Kemo will have alot of suitors and right now NYJ is not exactly an attractive destination. Ted would be great if we can't get Kemo.

In a perfect world, you'd rather have Kemoeatu. But because he is younger, he will be more expensive and get a multi-year deal, like 4-5 years. Washington will get a 1-2 year deal (unless it's very low money.)

How long can a 38 year old DT the size of Washington keep playing without breaking down. Thats a lot of weight to be moving around for 15 years. Eventually something has to give. While a good DT and a RT makes us a contender I would be leery about investing much in a player that may not have to many more games left.

If we can get this straight, Ted is 37 and 365 Kemo is 27 and 350. Dont bring up weight b/c you cant knock 350

Kemoeatu would also cost A LOT more, and would have a lot more teams after him.

We have the money to get him, I can not comprehend why people would rather have a 37 year old dt clearly decling than a 27 year dt on the rise to add to a young defense

Definitely go after Makeatu but if he gets too expensive then you have to settle for Washington...either one and we can spread the D-Line and the sweep plays won't kill us anymore

People said in this thread they would rather have Kemoeatu. But he will cost a ton, and there will be a lot more competition for him.

i understand, but this is the case for any very good FA; especially for a position that is crucial to Defense.

yeah, there will be a lot of compeition for Kemo. so because of that, do we just not go after him? if the price sky-rockets in a bidding war, i'm sure Tann and Mangini will reluctantly concede.

since Kemo will be heavily pursued, i think that speaks about his game, which gives us all the more reason to pursue him over Washington.

    cheers

Obviously you show interest and try to get him, but in the end, what a team like Cleveland will offer is probably going to be very difficult for us to match.
