Here's some good to bad news depending how you look at it. The Pats are about to sign Brandon Lloyd, he should command around 5-6 million per. That's a hefty chunk out of the Pats limited salary cap. Which could certainly make them balk at offering Landry what he wants, which means our chances at signing him just got higher, IMO.
Im not really scared of Brandon Lloyd and Im pretty sure that him being a Pat next year was pretty likely, so Im going to take this as 100% good news ats_suck:
It's bitter sweet for me. Brandon Lloyd is a great WR and happens to be on my TGG keeper league team, so him teaming up with Brady, fantasy wise, is great. However, in real life it sucks because he is a real threat to our defense , although he has a chance to get shut down by Revis twice a season but then Welker becomes more of a threat.
After the money scrubs like Garcon got, Lloyd should be commanding over 8m a year So if the Pats get him for 5-6, I will not be happy
Lets lock him up today and have a nice talk to Landry tomorow and get our safety situation set this weekend and get this team back to a deadly secondary. Revis and the other CB with those two. Good luck Brady
He could make more but you have to factor in his age. He is 31 and has really only had two great years, and on top of that he wants to be with the Pats badly. Garcon is 25, still has potential to grow, and we all know how badly the Skins needed a WR. Let's hope he does make more, but for now i think that's his figure.
This is ridiculous, why are we making LaRon Landry more of a priority than Nelson? Nelson is the type of FS we need and is a better fit for us. Stop messing around and just do this already. Enough is enough.
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2012/3/17/2880562/70-sure-on-nelson-higher-priority-on-landry https://twitter.com/#!/kristianrdyer Its been reported as such, but who the hell knows really.
An Eric Smith and LaRon Landry tandem frightens me in its complete inflexibility. They HIT HARD though.
yes Eric Smith in any Jets safety tandem frightens me. We need 2 new starting safeties for sure. If we land Nelson and Landry I bet we have at least a top 3 d next season. Most likely the best in the league
I hope this high priority Landry is just a way to make Nelson sign for cheap, but I don't want it to backfire. If we can get him tonight, why wouldn't Landry sign tomorrow ?
Anybody have an idea of how much per year Nelson is going to command? What about Landry? Word is we have $11m for this season so thats about $5.5M per player. I was thinking Nelson would get $5-6M and Landry $4-5 (really Landry should be much cheaper because of his durability, He's probably only really worth $3M a year MAX). Nelson's last contract was 5 years $9.5M with a $3M signing bonus. So he's probably looking for something a little higher than that.
From what i understand, Cinci has way more cap space. I'm guessing he tells them what the Jets offered, they up the offer, and he goes there.
