A second and Houston for Turner? They?re looking fo a 1ST AND 3RD FOR HIM!!! and won?t trade him, if they don?t at least get a 1st. we would at least have to give up Houston and a 1st to even make them think about the trade, and with leon/jones, there?s no way, we?re gonna waste a 1st rounder for another RB.

By drafting Blalock with our first, we imo can improve our running game more than any RB is able to do.

The only reason is see, y we would pretend to be interrestet in him is, to drive his price up for the bill.

There?s no way, turner will be a jet next season!

Don't count on that. He walks at the end of the year and they will get nothing. They will ultimately make the best deal they can. The last thing they want to do is pay a backup 2.3 Million this year.

There is no doubt at all that Turner was always the Jets first choice this offseason. Hardly a game went by when some announcer didn't mention that they would pursue him after the season ended. Schottenheimer was gushing about his abilities since the day he arrived from San Diego. I'm sure they tried to make a deal after they slapped the 1st and 3rd on him and couldn't. So they went and got Jones. Now they have lowered that demand and if there is any way the Jets can make a deal (probably a trade including a player) that they are happy with, they will. I believe the interest is genuine. They could even afford him because they could give him a back loaded contract until he proves he is more then a backup which I have no doubt he is.

I agree that there is genuine interest on the Jets part & that he was clearly the first choice at the RB position when this offseason began. Now though,I think they are trying to steal him if SD gets truly desperate to move him.

With the amount of interest in Turner that scenario is unlikely to happen, I don't think they will end up fetching a first for him but will get a better package from some team other than the Jets.

At this point I would rather SD keep him and then maybe we can make a run at him again next year.

    Turner to Titans?

    Titans, not Packers, pursuing Turner

The Green Bay Packers aren't pursuing San Diego Chargers running back Michael Turner, but the Tennessee Titans are making a strong push.

Turner's agent, Bus Cook, said Monday afternoon his client had just left a meeting with the Titans, one of several teams interested in signing or trading for LaDainian Tomlinson's backup.

I would too but that seems unlikely. They would have to pay him 2.3 million this year and get nothing in return at the end of the season. He will probably end up with the Titans unless the Jets want to give up a player and one of their 2s. I'm not sure why he would want to go to the Titans and just be a backup again. I also don't know how much the Titans would be willing to pay for a backup either. That is the team he visited yesterday though.

I think that there is another reason that we may be showing interest. If SD is unable to work out a trade this year then Burner becomes unrestricted next year. Maybe we would be interested in signing him then? And if all things being equal - maybe he would be impressed by the fact that we maintained interest and tried to get him every step of the way?

    It makes no sense

We've got TJ now. We can't use them both.

Of course we could use both. The question is can we afford both. A lot of teams are looking to have two strong backs these days. You must forget where Jones came from.

The more I think about this the more I am convinced that as we get closer to the draft not only will nobody give up a 1st and a 3rd but I doubt anybody will even give up a 1st alone. I'm sure if SD had an offer on the table for a 1st now they would have taken it. It will be intersting to see if they keep him as they say they will or trade him for a high 2nd.

i may get reamed out for this...and i havent really done the research so im just throwing it out there, but sd wont take houston and a second because turner i worth more so if the jets were to try and pull the trigger it would be leon and a second. that being said, the jets will not go after turner.

Yeah, I think the Jets may be out of it but Buffalo has the #11 pick in the 2nd and I can see them pulling something off.

I don't think Turner gets traded. He's pretty valuable to SD as a second option/insurance. Sure, he walks away for nothing (possibly a 3rd round compensation pick?), but they can win now. I don't see them trading him for anything less than a 1st, which no one will pay.

Turner is visiting Buffalo today. If we really did have interest you would expect he comes here tomorrow. If he doesn't then you would have to think it was all smoke.

Because announcers don't shut up about something means nothing in terms of what the Jets' offseason priorities have been. And as for doubt about Turner being the Jets' first choice, I think the fact that Turner is still with San Diego at the moment and the Jets traded for Thomas Jones creates a just a TINY bit of doubt.

It would be nice to have both Turner and Jones but they will both want starter money and starter carries. I don't think there is any validity to the rumors about the Jets trying to acquire Turner now.

Looks like he got to the Bills yesterday.

TURNER VISITS BILLS: Running back Michael Turner, a restricted free agent from the San Diego Chargers, visited the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

Turner was in and out of Buffalo all in one day. He had been scheduled to arrive on Wednesday reportedly was stalled by flight problems.

Turner, who rushed for 502 yards as LaDainian Tomlinson’s backup last year, is also on the Tennessee Titans’ radar after visiting with them on Monday.

The Titans are also interested in former New England Patriots running back Corey Dillon and their own free agent running back Chris Brown.

The latest on the SOAP drama which is Turner

Trade for Turner could be tricky
    Friday, Apr 6, 2007 12:51 pm EDT

The Tennessee Titans remain interested in a trade fo San Diego Chargers running back Michael Turner but indications are they're not considering giving up a first-round pick.

Acquiring Turner, a restricted free agent, could be tricky. The Chargers tendered him at $2.35 million, with first- and third-round draft pick compensation.

The deadline to sign a restricted free agent is April 20, but a trade could be made after that date.
