Scik and I were talking about this. It would require a HUGE leap in Sanchez's growth curve, and would limit the impact of Shonn Greene considerably. Leon, however, would likely start creaming his pants, and I'm assuming Martz would be able to utilize Keller beautifully. Call me mixed, leaning towards no thanks.

If Rex has ANY say in this it won't happen.. and I think he does.

Give me Callahan or Cavanugh any day over Martz! O think the guy really wants back in the league and he's putting out these rumors...

BTW If the Bears don't take Bates (will he maybe follow Carroll at the Seahwaks?) isn't Martz supposedly the fron-runner for the OC gig in Chicago?

That would be a laugh... His carachter and schemes with Cutler...? Bwahahah!

There's no chance of Martz being our offensive coordinator while Rex is head coach. When are people going to realize that half of these "rumors" are baseless fabrications and the other half are usually only half true??

let's see... this guy got fired from the 49ers because singletary wanted to run the ball and play good defense. we have a coach who wants to run the ball and play good defense. can anyone say "drumming up interest"?

Looks like Martz wants the Bears job.. see link below

    http://gridironfans.com/forums/late...terested-bears-offensive-coordinator-job.html

check these comments out in USA today
    http://content.usatoday.com/communi...t-charlie-armeys-criticism-warning-to-bears/1

Former Rams head coach Mike Martz said he was "just stunned" by the harsh criticism his former boss in St. Louis, Charlie Armey, issued this week.

Martz has expressed interest in the Bears' vacant offensive coordinator job. And Armey, in comments to ESPN, said it would be an "absolute mistake" for Bears coach Lovie Smith to hire him.

And Armey said Martz would stunt the development of Bears QB Jay Cutler:

"He's a terrible ... coach, and he would ruin that kid like he ruined Kurt Warner and drove him out of St. Louis. He's the worst thing that could happen to any young quarterback."

Martz told the Chicago Sun-Times he was blindsided by Armey's comments:

"Working with him, he never expressed that. I thought things were really good, but I guess that's why things ended up the way it did. If he felt that way, he never expressed that.

"He was very amiable. He was very complimentary."

Martz also told the paper he and Warner still have a productive relationship. -- Sean Leahy

I agree, Callahan showed he is a good OC in Oakland. He also showed that he will never be a head coach again. If he works out, we wouldn't have to worry about him being hired away.

I don't know if I can ever be a fan of Martz, especially after his bullshit onside kick when they were kicking our ass by 30. that is far more egregious than any running up the score Belichik ever did.

not to mention he fucking sucks. did a great job in San Fran without the talent of the greatest show on turf, didn't he.

No sir, I don't like it. He's just wrong.

  12. I think if we could somehow sell Martz on the "Ground and pound" philosophy...it could be a very good fit. Martz is about vertical routes, passing to recievers in stride and a very quick tempo. Based on what I've seen that fits Sanchez extremely well. It's also a good fit for our quick and athletic OL...specifically Brick, Faneca and Moore.

Passing wise...it's a perfect fit. It' just be selling him on utilizing rex's overall philosophy and Callahan's blocking schemes.

Something in the lines of: You design the passing plays, Callahan designs the run plays and Rex calls them?

You have a point regarding him being a very good fit for Sanchez but he would just have to humble himself and understand this is a run first team... and I don't know if Martz would be willing to do that.

    This just in from Rotoworld:

    Bears Offense-TM- Bears Jan. 12 - 7:38 pm et

Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese has reportedly emerged as a "potential front-runner" for the Bears offensive coordinator job.
Zampese, son of longtime NFL assistant coach Ernie Zampese, is credited with Carson Palmer's development. The 42-year-old reportedly spent the day interviewing with coach Lovie Smith after receiving a recommendation from former Rams coach Mike Martz, who is no longer considered a realistic candidate for the job himself.

Rex and Martz on the sidelines? That would be short lived! Cavanaugh does have an impressive resume, but I would prefer Callahan myself. I have read a few write ups about Callahans OL shifts/motions/schemes that make me think losing him would be more of a set back than losing Schotty. I dont know if Callahan would stay if they try to put someone else in as OC. Let Cavanaugh stay as QB coach...some stability for Sanchez, move Callahan to OC. I just wonder if he will need or want an asst for the OL or if he will do it himself
