People are %&#@?!; crazy if they think DeVito and Pouha are the answer. Both are very nice backups who performed well when we played something like a 4-3 setup. I've argued with a number of people about Pouha. People do think he's a capable 3-4 nose who can fill the spot for Jenkins. Please...

its pretty obvious what rex envisions. he sees this as a chance to create what could possibly be the greatest all around defense of all time.

if he can get a good pass rush by adding taylor, along with what is far and away the best secondary in football, he can make a defense that will raise hell. it could be the highest point scoring d in history.

it doesnt change the fact that i want to see jason taylor hung from the empire state building by his pussy lips. the guy sucks. he scissors with zach thomas' sister. i hate him. hes going to have to be dpoy while wearing green and white to make me like him any little bit.

A lot of you guys are forgetting that Jason Taylor talked shit about Rex Ryan earlier in the season - it certainly didn't bother him much.

Talking trash is part of this game. I'm sorry if Jason Taylor hurt your feelings, but if any of our players bad mouthed the Dolphins, Patriots, or Bills, you'd stand by them.

What Taylor does is part of the game. Why in the hell should a player be nice to his rival's fans? Think about it.

Tanny has been making business decisions, even if they are not popular ones.

This is true. I wish TJ was still here but he has to do what is best for the team. Hopefully time will prove him right. IF Rex wants a guy on Defense I would tend to trust his judgement.

This is actually the exact reaction that Dolphin fans have to Rex Ryan - they think because he talks shit that he is some kind of a detriment in the lockerroom. I have never liked Jason Taylor, but from all accounts he has been a leader in the lockerroom for whatever team he has played for.

I agree, I would be totally against this move if Rex wasn't all for it like the reports suggest. He must know he still has something left that could help this team. I doubt he's going to start anyway unless BT gets traded.

Honestly walking out of the tunnel in a Jets jersey is going to hurt him a lot more than it's going to hurt us. It's pretty much like Favre going to the Vikings except the Vikings fans wanted him and he's good.

Says the guy with Rich Blowtite in his avatar, that guy hurt my feelings 10Xs as much as Jason Taylor ever did. Talking shit is part of the game. My loyalty is with the Jets not their fans. This guy brings us one step closer to winning a championship and if you don't want that because Taylor hurt your feelings then I have to question your loyalty.

The way I see it, I see needs at FS, OLB, and DE. The defense overall is in its prime years while the offense is pretty young. I'd like to fill those 3 needs on the defense with younger players through the draft rather than signing over the hill players (like Jason Taylor).

I just don't see how it helps us that much by signing a former defensive player of the year rather than giving some younger guys the opportunity to develop on the field.

The defense was great without Taylor and we've gotten Cromartie (26) and replaced Sherry with Pool (also 26) since the offseason started. I'd like to continue that trend. What about you?

Because for the first time since 1999 we are legitimately ready to win now and we need win now players!

What your failing to accept or realize is that this move isn't being made by Mangini or Edwards. It's being done by the the guy who in one year took an above average defense and turned them into a nasty Super Bowl caliber D.

By questioning the motives behind the move your questioning Rex's ability to make the defense better. I think the guy knows what he is doing and if he wants Taylor then I want Taylor regardless of the past.

The way I see it, the Jets appear to be willing to stopgap some positions (FS and pass rushing OLB) in order to fill other needs with young players - be they NT, WR, DE (x2), possibly even RB, or even truly go BPA with their early picks to get the most out of them - all the while maintaining the ability to contend.

Signing Taylor, as distasteful as that is from a fan perspective, gives the Jets some freedom to draft as they like, and not as they need.

This is the exact type of mindset that lead to the 2005 season.

I would think Rex would know what he is doing with a defensive guy. If he comes in on passing situations only he is prob better than anything we will get in the draft or Free Agency. Im sure opposing Fans think Rex is an Asshole as well. If that Asshole can get ten sacks bring him in!

Notice I said first time we are ready to win since 1999. 2004 was a team of over achieving Fools good. The stars lined up with a weak schedule and we got lucky and reality set in the next year. We are Ready to win now! If Wr is not addressed I will take that TO too!

"Rex Ryan has thrown up the white flag with Vernon Gholston, fears Adalius Thomas will be not be released by the Patriots, and thinks Taylor could be the next best option for Gang Green. The Jets defensive strategy is all about pressure and Jason throughout his career has been very good at getting to the quarterback. As for the notion against signing such a hated rival, it happens every day in sports. Who would have thought the Yankees would ever sign Wade Boggs, Johnny Damon, or Roger Clemens? Bill Parcells coaching the Cowboys? It is all a part of sports."

the signing of JT does not hinder the possibility of drafting a young OLB.

if it turns out that he sucks and is over the hill.....then Bryan thomas will start over him and he will ride the bench. meaning we did not lose a step from last year. there is however a possibility that JT still has some stuff left in the tank....and could improve our pass rush. were not gonna get anyone else in free agency for that cheap.

even if this guy does well in the first half of the season...but then starts to show his age......we didnt lose anything. we had a better pass rush for half a season.

i really dont see any downside to this signing
