I think we need to be a bit more optimistic.

Our pass rush is nothing to brag about, and the addition of Jason Taylor--regardless of his past--will only make the team better. With two lock down corners, a great safety in Leonhard, and a Taylor/Jenkins/Ellis pass rush, the Jets have the ability to cause a lot of turnovers. For those of you that are afraid this will hurt team chemistry, as long as the team is winning no one is going to complain. Not only that, but Jason Taylor knows the Dolphins defense better than anyone. Schotty will pounce on any opportunity to gain the upper-hand on Miami.

Do you honestly think Rex would pursue Jason Taylor so diligently if he didn't see something in him? I'm sure he's more intelligent than that.

Who the hell is worried about team chemistry?!

The fact of the matter is, this bitch HATES the Jets and HATES Jets fans...that sir is the reason why many of us are having a hard time stomaching this.

Chemistry....bah...where have you been the past 10 years?

He was waived. There is no restriction on players that have been waived.

    From that article.

    .

This guy writes for a living? Maybe but he certainly doesn't research.

The posters here know it is a salary match with what the FA you lost gets this year not last and easily reached incentives and roster bonuses are included when calculating what the first year salary is.

@Adam_Schefter RT @Anthony_Capp: how close are jets to signing taylor? ... Jets plan is to get it done. Rex Ryan told Taylor he'll have 15 sacks for NY

If they indeed sign him, Rex just basically named him a starter. He's 36!!!

Which Taylor would you rather have? Jason Taylor or Taylor Mays? I'm leaning towards Mays, sadly...

True, but still It's Jason Taylor. At this point all of us have been programmed to naturally hate him. It's just to0 strange to think about right now.

Jason Taylor just does not fit here. Think about the Brett Farve acquisition. How did that end here? How did he do as a Viking?

I hate Taylor but this is nothing like Favre, Favre came in w/ a month to go in the season needing to learn a new system and new players. Taylor is familar w/ us and would be around in the offseason program PLUS he would be a situational player not an every down player like Favre AND he wouldn't cost us big $ and draft picks.

I hate to say it but I am warming up to this idea. I think as a situational pass rusher he could have success here

I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic, but this Jason Taylor thing has me worrying a bit.

Yeah but waived or not he was still a FA. No? I understand that the final four placed no limitations to negotiate but there are absolutely restrictions.

Section 2. Top Four Teams: Each of the four Clubs that participated in the NFC and AFC Championship games the Prior League Year shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any Unrestricted Free Agent to a Player Contract, except: (a) any Unrestricted Free Agent who acquired that status as a result of the NFL waiver system; (b) any Unrestricted Free Agent who was under contract to such Club on the last date of the
last League Year of the player’s most recent Player Contract; and (c) any Unrestricted Free Agent signed pursuant to Section 4 below.

Section 4. Replacement of Free Agents Signed by Other Club: Each of the eight Clubs subject to the provisions of this Article shall be permitted to negotiate and sign one Unrestricted Free Agent to a Player Contract (“New Player”) for each Unrestricted Free Agent who was under contract to such Club on the last date of the prior League Year, who has signed with another Club (“Previous Player”), so long as the Player Contract for the New Player shall have a first year Salary of no more than the first year Salary of the Player Contract signed by the Previous Player with the New Club

Am I reading this wrong? But isn't this 'pursuant to Section 4'? So a) & c) are applicable?

comparing a QB, and DE/OLB is so fucking different it's insane. Favre would of been FINE here if he didn't get hurt. 8-3 anybody?

if Taylor gets hurt..we will be perfectly fine unless we dump a player.
