What I don't understand is why people keep thinking that signing Jason Taylor would prevent the team from drafting a grade A pass rusher in the draft.
because obviously Rex and Tanny see this as a 3 year fix.... Seriously the complete lack of common sense on here when viewing football moves is mind boggling
I think if you look at the Feely and Jones threads I ain't over exaggerating at peoples responses. But thanks for your feedback
I don't see them doing that even though I think most on here want to see this happen. I fully expect the Jets to give him one more year. If he continues to play like a 5 year old girl, he'll be cut going into next year if there even is a 2011 season.
That people on a message board strongly voice their opinions on players they have grown attached to is not a big deal. I personally wasn't very happy about losing Feely, but was fine with losing Rhodes and TJ. Everyone has their favorite players... I was pretty damn unhappy about losing Pennington, but I came to accept the fact that we had a better chance of winning it all with Farve as our QB (actually turned out we may have been better with Chad, but oh well). The fact that you are surprised at people being emotional over losing a player they care about or signing a player they've despised for a decade shows me you don't really understand what being a fan is all about. We all react differently to these situations, but ultimately when Sunday rolls around we'll all be back on the same page... on the edge of our seats hoping the Green and White can come out victorious.
I think they hold on to Gholston til at least the beginning of the regular season. I doubt we hold on to him (and a roster spot) after final roster cuts.
it shouldn't stop them from taking a pass rusher in the draft but they no longer NEED to draft a pass rusher. this would give them room to wait and maybe grab a guy they like in the later rounds instead of feeling obligated to go after one of the higher rated guys. tanny has been saying he wants to be able to go BPA in the draft and he is trying to set the roster to allow for that to happen.
as much as i hate that pretty boy pos there are a few reasons i would like to have him on the Jets. 1. He still has some sacks in him. ill leave that open to interpretation. 2. In Rex we trust... rex will know when to put him in and how he will be most productive. 3. We desperately need pressure on the qb and even though i would prefer a DE it cant hurt having someone else who can rush the passer. 4. Maybe he can help get vernon's head out of his ass... doubt it. 5. i love hearing dolphins fans cry.
He's a hard worker, still a very smart player, and can possibly help Gholston develop .. maybe. Yeah he's been a heated rival for a long time, but who the fck cares, it's a business, it's how it goes. If he makes the team better, which I think he would, then I don't see the problem.
Being involved as a soccer / NFL fan I understand emotion quite well and what a fan entails thanks. What I struggle to understand in both sports is people putting there own personal feelings ahead of the team. That isn't a fan thats just emotional BS.
With all hate aside. What Donnie here just said is right on point. No matter how you look at it, Taylor is a upgrade at OLB and it will only cost us 1.5 mil. We can still draft an OLB, we run the 3-4.
Maybe they assume by bringing one pussy who has been a pretty good player they might be able to get through the giant vag on this team right now.
You need to relax. Jones wasn't a bum that we just grew attached to, nor was Feely. Some fans grew to like them because of the work they put in. Eventually we all learned to let go, and have moved on. BT is ok and JT will "supposedly" improve our pass rushing capabilities, but I'd (as well as others) rather look at other avenues. That's what I think most people are saying here. He can't possibly be the be-all-end-all answer to our problems. We still have the Draft and 2 league-wide roster cuts coming up before we head into the regular season, so signing Jason Taylor is a pretty big surprise considering how fans and JT himself have aired their dislike for one another. That's all there is to this.
Yeah I see that now. Of course the deal isn't done so I would say maybe a typo. But if you square off what Thomas Jones got across from what Taylor might get and then do the same with Feely and what L.T. 2 was signed for you should have extra monies. No? Jones signed a two-year deal; he'll get $3 million in 2010 and $2 million in 2011. He also is eligible to earn $500,000 in incentives. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/09/thomas-jones-gets-3-million-in-2010-2-million-in-2011-from-the-chiefs/ LaDainian Tomlinson signed a two-year, $5.2 million contract. Another $500,000 is available through incentives. 2010-2011: Under Contract, 2012: Free Agent http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=nfl&id=561 Feely's contract with the Cardinals is worth $3.5 million, including a $500,000 roster bonus and a $1 million salary this year. In 2011, he is due to make $1.75 million with a $250,000 bonus for attending off-season workouts. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/2010/04/06/20100406arizona-cardinals-jay-feely.html Not sure what LT2 is getting his first year. Thats just the big names. The Jets have had other guys sign to other teams too.
