Right, we can stockpile all of these positional players, and put 8 men on the field for special teams. You can't get by with players who aren't willing to risk life and limb on special teams. It isn't Madden.
Haha. Our team has some old vets, but the core of the squad is very young, which is a nice thing- assuming we can lock the majority of them up long term
As long as nobody needs a walker to leave the stadium I'm happy. But you are correct, we have a great young nucleus that should do great things for a very long time.
I agree. But at the same time, there is nothing wrong with having veteran leaders such as Mark Brunell, Tony Richardson and Jason Taylor, who are all 36 years of age or older. Mark Brunell is a veteran backup who's job is to help Sanchez develope into a franchise QB. Tony Richardson and John Conner could turn into a Thomas Jones/Shonn Greene type of situation before the season is over. I love T-Rich, but I can also picture John Conner becoming our starting FB towards the end of the season, in the same types of ways that Shonn Greene passed Thomas Jones on the depth charts heading into the playoffs last year. After the injury to Calvin Pace, all I can say is thank god for Jason Taylor. Moore (30), Woody (32), Scott (30), Jenkins (31), Bryan Thomas (31). Other than T-Rich and Jason Taylor, these 4 guys are the only starters we have who are 30 years of age or older. And of course, we have two key backups in L.T and Pouha who are both 31. If we can lock up our young talents such as Revis, Holmes, Edwards and Harris, this Jets franchise could become contenders for many of years to come. Our defense looks to be getting old on the D-Line and OLB positions, but our offense is looking like it could be on the verge of becoming set for a while. QB- Sanchez: 23 FB- Conner: 23 HB- Greene: 25 WR- Edwards: 27 WR- Holmes: 26 WR- Cotchery: 28 TE- Keller: 25 LT- Ferguson: 26 C- Mangold: 26 We have a lot of our starting pieces to our puzzle solved with young talents on the offensive side of the ball. Not many teams can say the same. Now if both Slauson and Ducasse can work out, our O-Line could be set for a very long time. LG- Slauson: 24 RT- Ducasse: 22
While I don't see us keeping Holmes and Edwards, our offense looks like they are going to have the same group for a while. It could be our strength in a couple years, and you know with Rex we will always have a top 5 D, so that's saying something.
Didn't mean to leave Shaun Ellis off that list, he's one of my favortie Jets. You can always count on #92 bringing his lunch bag on Sundays.
Well, we may not keep both Edwards and Holmes, but if we can lock up both Revis and Harris, it would be great to keep one of those WR's. If I had to pick 1 WR to keep, it would be Edwards just because of his size and speed. But yes, I agree, we should have a top of the line type of defense for many of years to come under Rex Ryan.
Come week 5, we better worry. The Vikings have a top 5 O-Line, and they also have plenty of offensive weapons. QB: Brett Favre RB: Adrian Peterson WR: Bernard Berrian WR: TJ Houshmandzadeh WR: Percy Harvin TE: Visanthe Shiancoe Thats an offense that can put up points in bunches. They also have a rookie in Toby Gerhart who can do plenty of things out of the backfield.
That's fine, we're going to break Favre in half in the first quarter anyway so we'll see what TJax can pull off.
