Well said McDaniels came in guns blazing and he really didn't think that it would come to bite him in the ass like it's done. Some people have something called character and Cutler seems to want that from the organization and the coach that he is playing for. The Broncos would be screwed for a long time if they lose Cutler.
I don't see what the big deal is either way. People get way too uptight around here about that stuff. It feels like being in Jr High school and the hall monitors are pissed when ya do heroin in the stairway, then go tell on ya. God I hate when that happens.
Can anyone remember a time when a good NFL QB was traded in their prime? Matt Cassel doesn't count. He could easily turn out to be another Scott Mitchell/Derek Anderson. I just don't see this happening. I'd be pumped if it did though.
Brett Favre after his rookie season? Matt Schaub a couple years ago? Those are two off the top of my head, but neither were starters before.
I am very excited at the prospect of getting Cutler. He is a star QB in a league where you really need one to win. We could potentially have a great team for many years with Cutler as our QB.
I dunno if anyones with me, but I'm against this trade. If he was such a baby about shannahan getting fired and potentially being traded, I don't think he's going to be able to handle the New York pressure very well. Personally I'd rather draft Freeman, and not necessarily to be our starter this year. We have to see what we have with Clemens. He had no line and no running game in 2007 where he still went 3-5 (better then chad's 1-7). If he doesn't work out then Freeman is the starter in 2010. I've read scouting reports that Freeman needs a year on the bench anyway.
I'd love to see Cutler on the Jets. I did just hear Francessa note that 12 teams have reportedly contacted the Broncos about Cutler, though. Also, I heard two sports guys from Denver on a podcast from a day or two ago really focus on Chicago and Cleveland. So while I'd love to see Cutler come to the Jets, I'm trying to temper my hopes since it seems we're just 1 of many teams interested. I do see him moving, but if Denver wants a starting QB in return, we may have to do a multi-team deal to make this happen since, though Clemens or Ratliff may someday be starting QBs, neither are just yet.
I'm not against the trade by any means I still think QB is the biggest need for the team. That being said I doubt the trade will happen. I always felt that the Favre trade had legs and could potentialy happen because GB clearly needed to move on and wanted to unload him, but for an up and comer like Cutler to be traded away over some petty BS makes no sense.
I can't understand why so many NFL teams would be interested in a cry baby who hasn't proven anything. He hasn't even been to the playoffs!
Fran Tarkenton Y.A. Tittle Maybe not in their prime but both still had a lot of good football left in them.
Now Francessa saying, for what it's worth, that he thinks it's "80%" likely that Cutler will wind up staying in Denver. He did mention again the possibility of a three team deal, and he mentioned Brady Quinn or Matt Leinart as possible QBs going to Denver. Actually, just typing that makes me cringe for Denver. Going from Cutler to Leinart would be truly scary. One other note, the Denver broadcasters I heard the other day on the podcast noted that Denver fans were about 50/50 split on Cutler. They're probably basing that on anecdotal evidence like call ins to their shows, but I thought it was an interesting anecdotal data point, if nothing else, about what the Broncos' fans were thinking.
He hasn't proven anything? Was this post intended as a joke? In 2008, Cutler: -Ranked 3rd in the NFL is passing completions (1st in the AFC) -Ranked 3rd in the NFL in passing yards (1st in the AFC) -Ranked 7th in the NFL in passing touchdowns (3rd in the AFC) -Made the Pro Bowl Pretty damn good for his mere second season as a starter! And this guy is not good enough for you??
hardly the same thing. you may as well include Elway in that group then since he was drafted by the Colts and then traded to the Broncos after refusing to play, or even Eli Manning.
I have a hard time believing the mods consider this fake news (which generally occurs when someone starts a thread about said fake news to dupe other members or just generate attention to themselves) and not a sarcastic response that is made all the time and doesn't require any edits.
Football is a TEAM sport. HE would not be the only one to get credit if they were a playoff team so why should HE be blamed for them not being a playoff team? THEY NEVER HAD A DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:breakdance:
