I'm sure Rex's brother gave him the rundown on this guy. I can't wait to see our secondary next year. I just hope he can stay healthy. And in response to this: You actually have to hit something to have a chance of getting a concussion. Kerry was soft and it showed in his tackling.
But where is Drew Coleman? How are we going to be able to complain about this defense without Drew Coleman?
Good pre-Draft depth signing, but unless the Jets are counting on Eric Smith getting mucho playing-time, I think we're drafting a Safety. There's just no way Pool can be relied upon to play 16(+) games; and Eric Smith is a more situational player. This cannot be answer to the Safety opposite Leonhard.
I'll go on record now and say this is a bloody horrible pick up. Nothing to do with his playing ability, but because of the concussions. If hes signed purely for depth I hope hes WAY down the pecking order come opening day. Having a back up with his medical background is suicide. Eric Smith is a very good saftey, but to take us to the next level, NO, and Pool is nowhere near Smith........looks like we're going safety day 1 then.
I would love to know the ratio of concussions picked up on gameday to practice. In my experience, most are picked up in training.
talent wise I love the move but I'm concerned w/ his concussion history. Either way it's a low risk move, we didn't give him much money and it's only a 1 year deal.
This indicates to me that they are planning on drafting a safety. Pool's one year deal suggests that he is more insurance than anything. Let's go Earl Thomas!
Doesn't seem like the move that is going to help us beat Tom Brady and Peyton Manning but a good low risk depth move. I'm still surprised that Atogwe has not been brought in for a visit. Maybe the Jets are waiting for teams to set a market value for him before making the move. Then again maybe there is no interest and this move would suggest the latter. They must have their eye on somebody in the draft....
Little tackling big guys, not a fan of this at all. With all the players being put in wheel chairs, this move is alarming. I just hope the medical advice hes getting says hes good to go. I really don't want to see another Byrd type situation
jetstwit RT @DWAZ73: Pool's agent tells AP that $1.3M deal includes $1.2M guaranteed. Also says Pool has had ONE confirmed concussion not 4, 30 minutes ago via HootSuite
I can live with 1.3 million. Plus he probably has to make opening day roster who knows if we draft someone or someone else becomes available. Nothing flashy but not every signing is. Just saw above that above sucks 1.2 of it is guaranteed? Thats odd for a 1 yr deal I would think
That's meaningless for a 1 year deal especially in this uncapped year. if we cut him we give him a nice going away present but it doesn't affect our ability to bring in another player.
1 concussion rather than 4 is better news, not sure how reliable it is though. Not bothered about the contract. I think he makes the team.
I just heard about this signing. Sweet. Now all we have to do is sign Coles and Westbrook and we'll be able to field the All-Concussion Team. This guy is without a doubt an upgrade over Rhodes, but I'm not interested in seeing players become vegetables wearing a Jets uniform. It was too disheartening to see it happen so many times to Chrebet.
Guys, he's here to be part of a rotation. His injury risk will be diminished by that. This is a very low risk, high reward signing. Everyone knows we're drafting a safety. Anyone who ever thought otherwise (even before the Rhodes trade) was crazy. I'll actually be surprised if Tanny doesn't use at least one of the Rhodes picks to trade up for a safety. I have a feeling they have their eyes on a particular player or two. This move gives us some extra experience at the position for our rookie to learn behind. If he plays really well, then it's a bonus.
