Four concussions is no joke.... I'm seriously concerned for this guys life, fuck the signing, this guy can't be serious. I guess you really can't question this guys heart, you have to be a brave mofo' to want to still play this game, even though he knows what is at stake.
medical experts expected this guy to retire after last season......that's a huge red flag. I'm glad i'm not the only one concerned about this.
I hope he's not dancing for pennies in front of an organ grinder with Ted Johnson.... after his career is over.
Good pick-up. Heading in the 2005 Draft I remember liking him a lot coming out of Oklahoma and wanted him in the hopes that he somehow dropped to us in the 2nd Round. That was the year if you remember that we made the brilliant decision to give the Raiders our 1st for Doug Jolley, then ended up with Mike Nugent in the 2nd, and then, the irony of it all….got Kerry Rhodes two rounds later in the 4th. Yes, the concussions are a very serious concern but the kid is only 25 years old and we signed him to a cheap one yr deal, not to mention he’s big (6-2, 210), rangy, and was a superstar from the great football state of Texas who crossed the Red River to lead the Sooners. Lots to like…other than the concussions. Let’s remember that it wasn’t too long ago he was the 1st Safety off the board. 1. Brodney Pool #34 (2nd Pick, Round 2) 2. Josh Bullocks #40 (Round 2) 3. Nick Collins #51 (Round 2) 4. Oshiomogho Atogwe #66 (Round 3) 5. Sean Considine #104 (Round 4) 6. Vincent Fuller #108 (Round 4) 7. Marviel Underwood #115 (Round 4) 8. Jerome Carter #117 (Round 4) 9. Kerry Rhodes #123 (Round 4) *Braylon was the 3rd Overall Pick **Other Notables before the 34th Pick: Cedric Benson (4), Antrel Rolle (8), DeMarcus Ware (11), Shawne Merriman (12), Derrick Johnson (15), Marcus Spears (20), Matt Jones hah(21), Aaron Rogers (24), Roddy White (27), Marlin Jackson (29) Heath Miller (30), Logan Mankins (32), Brodney Pool (34) *******CROMARTIE was a mid-1st Rounder the very next year 2006, along with our very own, D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold Don’t forget…the Browns were never very good, and if Pool can avoid another concussion he will be awesome in our secondary. All for it.
interesting signing, but i'd still consider adding sharper for a year or two (if its possible, which i am still unclear on)
Depth can only be good, can't it? There can be good depth and bad depth, but the idea behind depth is what counts.
Good post, if this guy can stay healthy, we could have just picked up a pro bowler for reallllllllly cheap
I really hope this signing doesn't end with massive brain damage. Hopefully he decides to hang it up in TC.
That's nice to read, usually the player's ex-team's fans know best. You mind posting a link to the thread so we can read the rest?
Come on Cleveland fans saying where making nice moves? They don't have a clue what nice moves are LOL
Great comments from those Browns fans gives me a bit more hope on Pool if he was that good in there D i wonder how it would be on ours. If Rexy can help this guy improve he could he great. Has good size as well 6'2 3/5ths, 205 lbs, runs a 4.53. Great signing even if its just for depth in the end.
Im just glad we got Smith and Idehgbo behind him. The guy sounds like a very good player, but when you historically have only started half your games theres only so much you can get out of this guy. He might be sufficient for this year, but definitely is not a long term solution. as long as Rex drafts someone to groom and Eric Smith is ready to go cant complain about this deal.
shitty teams know what good moves are because all they do is watch other teams make good decisions around them.. do you know which teams are in their division?
