About that Khalil Mack trade, I took some heat for not wanting him but my position's starting to look better.
I hope he gets booed out of the god damn building vs. the Giants. What a huge pussy. Never saw this coming from him.
I'm done with Jamal. I can tell by what Joe Douglas said yesterday he is a stand up guy and a leader. Jamal, on the other hand, is a child. Thanks for the 2 interceptions in 3 years. One by a back up QB.
The Raiders definitely put some good things on film regarding how to attack Mack. Cut block him, wham block him with tightends and pulling guards and you'll really bother him. He's still an amazing player though should be treated as such, and while I'm usually in favor of keeping draft capital at all costs, it would've been cool to have a player like him.
I'm glad we didn't take him. We really needed another first round 3T to play at 5T and sometimes defensive end. Edge rusher smedge rusher. Who needs em?
Mack's a terrific player. But to give up all those picks* and pay him all that money? Unless you're ready to win the Super Bowl now, not worth it. *Yeah a GM like Mac would end up blowing the picks. But we can't act like Douglas is going to be that way because if he is, we won't win regardless of whether we keep our picks or trade them.
Holy crap, this guy is such a baby. 1. I love Jamal, but he's not in the same class as Donald or Brady, he isn't even the best in the league at HIS position. 2. It's a business, the Jets were fielding offers for both Bell and Robby, both of which spoke to JD and showed up today smiling from ear to ear.
the fact of what they get paid doesn't matter. but the value safeties have brought back pick wise is higher then we seen for any other position which is how teams view them. the pay scale doesn't matter. it's a separate thing. What a team will trade or where they will draft a player is what decides how teams value a position. Which is why you don't see kickers and punters traded for a high pick or drafted in the 1st 4 rounds.
paid more =/= valued more by teams do you think trumaine is more valuable then adams? he's getting paid more. how about kalil? is he more valuable then darnold? even if you look at the draft rookie pay scale, payers are paid 100% the same based on draft pick position and not the position they pay with the 1 exception of QB being more valuable because yes they are, and kickers and punters are less. all the other positions arne't though. The issue is when free markets happen between independent contractors pay scales get wacky. I'm sure as an adult you've seen it in real life. I bet we all have a co-worker who we think is an idiot and overpaid for their performance. the trade market and the rookie scale 100% prove without any question or opinion but as 100% fact, that teams and GMs do not see safeties as less valuable then other defensive positions.
The press reports on Adams' reaction to the possibility of a trade are wild. I hope this whole incident doesn't turn him in to a major diva/distraction. Wouldn't it be ironic as hell if the Jets come to regret not moving Adams yesterday because of his over-the-top reaction? I have to wonder if this hissy fit will hurt his trade value in the event the Jets do decide to move him in the off-season. Is he good enough for a team to tolerate OBJ-like behavior? What's interesting is that Adams thinks he was actively being shopped because he heard it from “a couple of people that I have a lot of trust in.” Hmmmm. I wonder if those "couple of people" were Mehta and Cimini stirring the pot. If so, that pot is now boiling.
It's pretty telling that everyone in the media is taking the team's side on this issue now that Jamal has spoken. He's completely out of line and irrational. I didn't even sour this quickly on Porzingis and he's the one that requested a trade.
That may be the dumbest thing I’ve read all day. Paid more does equal values more. Your value to a team is exactly how much of their cap space they are willing to commit to you. There is a reason the positions that affect the game most make the most money.
Wow! This is getting a little over board, just because the guy expressed his opinions or feelings? I don’t see anywhere he rant or did a OBJ mode. What’s wrong with the guy’s desire to play for this Jet team. He is an impact player and durable. More importantly careful what you wish for in getting rid of him. Hes an important piece to building the future.
me: Boss i'd like to talk about my salary Boss: We're actually paying you twice less than the guy in the next office, but we value you the same or even more than him me: that makes sense; i feel better now; thanks for the explanation boss: keep up the good work!
Adams presser confirms he spends waaay too much time on Twitter and is way too close to ESPN hot take analysts who are telling him he's being disrespected ....I doubt Ryan Clark or Steven A Smith know what's going on in the Jets front office.
