That is an awesome quote..... I saw Fields, Duffy, and Mawae never saw Scmitt but like Jet said Mawae was widely considered the best in the game for years and he is going to be a Hall of Famer (hopefully as Jet can't see him in as a Titan or Seachicken).

It's great to think that we have 2 surefire HOFers playing in my era when in all the history of the team we only have 2 players who are in.

I agree, maybe because the better an OL plays the less you here of him...Schmitt was excellent, as were Joe Fields and Kevin Mawae...

Mangold may end up being the best ever. He is potentially that good, but potential does not win this one.

I loved Joe Fields, great player. But it comes down to Mawae and Schmitt.

I'm not a big fan of comparing players across generations. John Schmitt was a great center for his time but at 6'4" and only 253 lbs, he would be considered undersized today.
He was smaller than today's tight ends

I'm just happy that we've had some quality players at this position and hope that Mangold will turn out to be the best of his generation.

I was thinking about Sweeney too, but I chose Fields. It was between him and Mawae for me, and Fields was here longer and I liked him better.

My vote is for Mawae but Jim Sweeny should be on that list.
