That was definitely a weird situation... a Lakers fanboy "writer" apparently has some connection to this guy.
I dont think Douglas takes the interview if he didnt want the job. I think hes a smart negotiator who knew his value. Hes been a highly coveted personnel guy for a few seasons now,hes not up against any deadline, doesnt NEED the Jets job,the jets desperately need him & its NY. Joe said Show me the $ & the years
This guy will be around should Gase flame out. Perhaps this structure thing isn't a problem after all
Douglas wouldnt take a 6 year deal if he didn’t wanna be here. He knows that you only get 1 chance to be a GM and he knows what he needs to be successful. Clearly CJ, and Woody for that matter, agreed to supply him with what it takes. Let’s all rejoice. We’re moving in the right direction.
Douglas may not be a huge fan of analytics, but analytics guys will tell you that college production is more important than off-the-chart measurables. Also Polite and Edoga have character concerns, but they did produce in college.
You mean they aren't going to go out of business because they made a move in the front office? I guess the media panic is a never mind.
I don't think many people said that ownership is not aggressive , many people say that ownership is clueless
I was immediately on a high after Macc was fired. The only problem I had they left him run the draft. He picked some clunkers on the way out the door.
I'm hoping for a strong scouting department for a change under Douglas' construction... maybe we can hit on more than 1 or 2 picks a season ?
There’s no way to know how the picks will turn out. Quinnen is obviously a homerun, Polite could be a stud and Edoga has potential. Everything outside of that... not a fan. And what’s funny is Cimini thinks Douglas wouldn’t have even considered guys like Polite or Edoga because of their “issues”.
My bold prediction. Jets will play in the Superbowl within 3 years. Gase will be the HC. Douglas will eventually bring a Superbowl to the Jets.
Our GM, Head Coach and Quarterback are all repped by Jimmy Sexton. We might as well just put him on the payroll.
Well, I like the hire and hope this Gase/Douglas relationship can work. If things go sideways I hope he can be professional and dump Gase if he doesn't have the Jets performing up to par. Now the most important part of this whole process. What scouts and personnel guys will he bring along.
He probably wanted a contract long enough to make it through the transition of Woody coming home to roost.
