but you also need to consider he had like 5th string tackles, practice squad running backs, then there was the QB issue. What OC in the league succeeds with that mess?

I am not saying MILF had a great roster. I get all the reasons why he didn't succeed, but he didn't exactly overperform either. 28th and 29th ranked offenses in back to back years do not exactly inspire confidence for the future. Then you hear people like GW saying we were predictable, Conklin saying we didn't have fire, Young saying he didn't see eye to eye with Zach. Also, remember the Minny game: White looked like an elite QB, hitting tight window after tight window throw. This was a great QB performance. We still lost due to red zone issues. I am not saying MILF is to blame for all of this, it's just that he is a part of the problem too due to aforementioned reasons. I was on the fence in letting him go, but objectively he has not given us a reason to be devastated that he left.

I don't even know if new offensive coaches are better. Though IMO Hack did overachieve with crap QBs in Jacksonville and Buffalo. Even Rodgers looked quite a bit worse after he left, particularly in red zone. Of course he looked like shit in Denver, so overall seems like he had an up and down career as on OC. With MILF's two years as an OC I haven't seen the ups yet, only downs. Plus Hack gives us a chance at Rodgers. And runs WCF, so less adjustment for current players. So, while Hack is not great, I am OK with him replacing MILF, don't see a big mistake there that you guys are eluding to. And if he helps get Rodgers - that's a jack pot of a hire.

You discredit the obvious but hold onto things to argue against MLF that are subjective.

GW saying the offense was predictable I feel you take that out of context. Of course the offense was predictable, wasn't much to work with, GW was the obvious weapon for our offense after all the Injuries.

I could go on with the rest but I'll save It.

    We shall see.

    It's all good.

Yeah I’m not enamored of how this all went down. Not going to die on a hill defending MLF, but I’ll just say this…the new guys are not clear and obvious upgrades to me. Hackett was terrible at Denver. Terrible. I get that he was the HC not the OC but still his offense was one of the worst in the league. I would get if he was fired but his side of the ball at least looked decent, but it was terrible. That’s on him. And the criticism that he couldn’t adapt his offense to the skills of Russell Wilson…well isn’t that what MLF is being criticized for…not adapting to his players? It’s crazy to me. It just smacks of the same shit like when we hired Kotite and Gase as soon as they were fired. No one else was banging on their door but us. Same with Hackett. I’m just not a fan of the hire.

firing coaches is all fine and good. But you should have a plan and a clear better option. The way this went down I fully believe the intent from Saleh was to keep MLF and improve the OL and QB positions and go from there. Then Woody meddled, and here we are. Searching for replacements and hiring guys from the scrap heap who were fired.

On the bright side sure at least he’s had success in the past so maybe the Denver job is just a speed bump and he’ll get back to form here as an OC, but I’m just not inspired or excited by this move.

we will see…I’m trying to not overreact and give them the benefit of the doubt, but I’m just not excited…

I am just trying to be objective. MILF to me showed some good potential, but didn't really outperform. Hence I am not mourning his loss. The predictability factor was something Rivka Brood from JetsXFactor discovered earlier and proved it with numbers, before GW publicly said it. Also, GW was not the only guy. I felt Moore was a good player, who was underutilized, we had TEs, even Rucker in the last game showed maybe he could have played more earlier. Red zone struggles were real even with great QB play, which Mike White did bring against crappy Minny defense. And also - I know Zach was not great, but not to even be able to see eye to eye with #2 overall pick, that's not just on Zach.

Anyway, like you said, we shall see. I am not losing sleep over MILF leaving, even though he might do well with McVey as the main offensive guy in LA, even if MILF's replacement is also not something that's very inspiring. I think a lot of what will happen with the Jets this year will depend on the QB we get. On top of qualifications, having that connection to Rodgers may prove meaningless, but it may also prove pivotal. Let's see how it all plays out.

Btw, I just came across this: https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/patriots_to_re_sign_ol_conor_mcdermott/s1_14819_38486585

Looks like CMD actually did a good job as a starter for the Patriots. Here we are, myself included, bitching about the OLine we have as the worst of the worst, when the guy who sucked here under MILF and was below the terrible tackles we had on the depth chart, actually starts for the Patriots, plays well, and gets resigned. Note also that Laken played significantly below his performance for another team. Moore didn't take next step. Zach regressed. There is a pattern here, where MILF just couldn't maximize the ability of what turned out to be some decent players. Now that I think about it, Morgan Moses was an OK guy here, but not a candidate for a large contract. He ended up signing for a pretty modest amount for a starting T. The moment he moved to Baltimore, he looks like top 10 RT in NFL.

So, with CMD, Moses, Moore, Laken, Zach, as examples who played significantly better for other teams before or after MILF or were expected to improve but didn't. there is a pretty significant sample size, where we can't just say they all underperformed here because they all suck. This is on coaches also.

This Is such a reach. The guy Is on his third team, only played 6 games right? Got signed as a depth piece. Big deal?

MLF wasn't an OL coach BTW. That guy, lost his job, and now we have some stud apparently there. I'll believe It when I see It.

This doesn't discredit MLF at all though. This Is a massive reach on your part to try to put those things together.

Well, starting and playing well for 6 games when our RTs stunk in that stretch is a meaningful data point. If that was the only one though, I agree, it could be a reach. It's not just CMD though. It just seems like pretty much everyone got worse compared to their performances for other clubs or vs expectations for this year. CMD, Moore, Carter, James Robinson, Laken, Zach, Moses, Brown. Even TEs to be honest underperformed, particularly in blocking. They were considered good blockers before they came here.

The more I think about it, the more I realize MILF is not OC material just yet. At least not under a defensive coach, where he has to be essentially the head coach of offense. I think a passing coordinator may be a perfect role for him. Except in red zone. How else do we explain that all these guys above performed better right before or right after MILF and young promising guys regressed? We can explain one or two, but collectively this is a pretty big sample size. Enough to draw a conclusion that your OC wasn't very good at maximizing talent, without any reach whatsoever.

    It's not.

You are trying to paint this picture like MLF was the one to send McDermott to the practice squad for him to be poached by the Patriots.

This point you're trying to make would be more of a JD gaffe, if you want to even call It that. We are talking about McDermott, I mean.

    Who truly cares?

The dude sucked and he wasn't dominant for the Patriots. Just serviceable. He will be a depth piece.

    It doesn't matter.

They underperformed because we had dog shit QBs playing behind an abysmal OL, with several key injuries to go along with It.

It wasn't just one guy holding this offense back, one coach, that just doesn't make any sense to me.

You are not being unbiased at this point. IMO

This argument Is just not good. At all. IMO

When you have the abundance of injuries and the absolute worst QB&OL combination In the league running the show, you're going to have set backs.

None of this remotely changes my mind and I still predict he will be successful with the Rams as OC.

Yes, you'll discredit him In that role, but I have no doubt he will contribute and bring that scheme with him.

    He is gone now though.

Time to move on. I've said my piece on It.

All that Is left Is to see how much better we are without MLF. That's your proclamation at this point, no?

    So, we shall see.

We better be though, especially If we plan to bring In an actual QB to run the show.

    Something MLF didn't have.

The point is that MILF had a lot to do with it, particularly when it comes to OLine. I am sorry you feel I am biased, but I am not. I am looking at the facts, which are adding up to point to MILF's inability to get the best out of majority of his players. How else do you explain that CMD, Moore, Carter, James Robinson, Laken, Zach, Moses, Brown, Uzomah all either regressed when expected to step forward or underperformed under MILF relative to other situations? It's on them too of course, but MILF bears big responsibility. Which is why while before I was on the fence, it is now crystal clear to me why Saleh had to fire his best friend's brother and also OLIne coach. Something I am sure he didn't want to do, but looking objectively something he had really no choice on. No bias here.

Hackett will be so much better that MLF. You'll see. It won't be hard either. He was terrible.

What basis or resources do you have to blame MLF for the OL? Makes no sense. Just because he was the OC doesn't mean all those players you sighted sucked because of MLF.

.. and If that was true (it's not) why was AVT so dominant If MLF was such a detrimental cause for the poor OL play? Why was Garret Wilson a 1000k rookie WR If he is to be blamed for EM not even breaking 500yds last season?

How's come Breece Hall was so dominate till he became injured If MLF Is the reason MCarter had a bad year?

How's come all the backups at QB played better If MLF Is the sole reason why Zach Wilson was basically a trash can behind center.

You are trying hard to bury a guy when your reason it is completely flawed. It's contradictory and there Isn't evidence to support It.

There Is zero chance that he was the sole reason that offense failed. I just don't buy it. I have eyes and a brain.

I don't think we would get much from anyone at OC with all the malfunction on offense.

Worst QB in the league. Without a doubt. Multiple injuries at key positions. It's not hard for me to see.

    Again.

If it smells like shit, then it's likely shit.

Our offense was all the shitty flavors. Nobody was saving that.

    Yeah dude..

He got so much out of a future HOF QB In Russ Wilson. That offense was lighting up the scoreboard every week. So much to be excited for, can't wait.

Next off-season that will be a huge story when Russell Wilson bounces back and Hackett gets fired from the jets

The basis and the evidence is the fact these same guys that sucked for MILF did better elsewhere. Even Moses, who was just OK here, but nothing special, goes to Baltimore, and he is #13 overall rated Tackle according to PFF. CMD was an eye opener for me. The guy was a nobody here, didn't play well, was behind the guys who played the worst in NFL, goes to NE and immediately plays well as a starter. That forced me to look at all players and I came to realization that most of them played better elsewhere or regressed. Again, I want to get a logical answer to the following question: how else do you explain that CMD, Moore, Carter, James Robinson, Laken, Zach, Moses, Brown, Uzomah all either regressed when expected to step forward or underperformed under MILF relative to other situations?

AVT, Breece and GW doing well does not explain it. A good OC is supposed to lift majority of the players, not just small minority of uber talented top picks, who probably will do well anywhere. In fact when these top guys went down, we imploded. In the meantime, when NE had an injury, they got a guy who sucked for MILF and was relegated to practice squad in favor of better players, actually perform decently at RT. While our Tackle spot was atrocious. It just doesn't add up, Dean. You can't just say well, we got injuries, when other teams pick up players from our practice squad and they play well. You may have preconceived notion about MILF, but answer the above question honestly and be open to a different outcome. Think about how many guys did better elsewhere or regressed. It's a lot. Also, I am not saying Zach didn't suck, my point is that MILF sucked too, not just all but a small number of elite players on the offense.

You see how you (correctly) pointed out that Russ did much better with another Coach. And yet when vast majority of our players did better with other OCs or regressed, you are not able to make the same deduction when it comes to MILF. Why is that?

I think Russell Wilson bounces back and Hackett is an average at worst NFL coordinator as he’s been his entire career. Both can be true.

Tying Hackett to Wilson’s failures is silly and vice versa.
