He would be a cheap option because of his injury plagued season last season, if he is the Braylon of old... wow what a steal!!! I want this man on the Jets.
I remain deeply skeptical that Braylon is still the same player that he was two years ago, and that we should add another combustible personality to our fractured locker room. But if the coaching staff wants him back then why not. At least he'll be cheap.
While I do not know the severity of Braylon's knee issues, knee injuries and wide receivers is a pretty bad combination. I would like to see him back, but I won't be expecting "Braylon of old".
An appropriately healthy Braylon Edwards on the cheap sounds good. I would still like the Jets to look at a backup burner through the draft as well in case Braylon goes down again.
Hope hes healthy and can perform like he did in '09 and '10...The guys a Jet, would love to see him playing where he belongs again.
You give me too much credit. LOL. :rofl2: I'm as "pleasantly surprised" at this news as you are. The guy naming himself after Mcneil is telling us to stop living in the past. Okay. But seriously, though, it wouldn't hurt to give him a look(and a physical). If he's 100%, you give him an incentive-laden deal AND, if so desired, draft a WR. OVERALL, I'm very pleased at this development. It really seems like Tanny is FINALLY going to own up to his mistake in letting Braylon go. Now it's all up to Braylon's Knee.... J..E...T.....S.......JETS...JETS....JETS!!!
If we had the option then great, yeah sure. But we're fighting a tight cap at the moment with a lot of needs. Between OLB, Safety, RT, getting linebackers who can stop the rush, a RB and we need to pay our draft picks -- we have a lot of needs and unless Tanny frees up some serious cap space, we have to be very frugal and careful how we spend that money. Braylon gives us a good option, if healthy, for a #2 WR who is a deep threat who also had chemistry with our QB for very little money (I'd presume). Beggars can't be choosers and I think we have more important needs and he's an excellent stopgap.
If not hell have a contract where he can easily be cut before the season even starts. Not that this team would be able to afford to lose one of its few offensive weapons in august but nonetheless
they will probably sign him to a one year deal for around 3.4 million or something like that. Theres no point in giving more then a one year deal we don't know if he is gonna be back to his old form
3.4mil sounds like a decent chunk considering the cap troubles, unless a lot of it is incentive-driven.
Cheap contract, incentive laden, and only if he checks out medically. Basically what SF gave him this year would be perfect for us to offer him. I think his base salary was under a million or close to it.
