I agree to a point. What you said is true except that Saquon isn't a good back he's great. I still can't believe he opted not to go for the single greatest rushing season ever by a RB in week 17 I cannot understand that. This change in the NFL is fairly recent and only because the rules have been rigged against the defense and the way these refs call the games. But running the football, great RBs are a part a big part of NFL history. It's been proven that running the football helps win championships. For a vast part of the NFL's existence that's how it's been.
If you had sources you'd name them. I think the reason the Jets have not announced what they will do with Rodgers is that there is no hurry to do so both operationally and financially. He has failed as a NY Jet with little to no reason to expect that to change.
If you think that any team in the National Football League, or any well managed business for that matter, needs to make public their plans in order to maximize the effectiveness of those plans you are too far removed from reality to be commenting on the matter. Do you actually believe the entire NFL would be in the dark about the Rams' plans for Kupp if it was not announced to the public? Sheesh!
Don't underestimate what Rodgers playing through the entire 2024 season meant inside the locker room. There's no doubt in my mind Aaron Rodgers is the unquestioned leader of this football team inside that locker room. He paid his dues. He's a New York Jet. He deserves to lead this team. I hope he comes back in 2025 it shouldn't be a difficult decision. It'll be fun. The coaching on the offensive side in 2024 the team was doomed from the start then when Woody fired Coach Saleh after week 5 they lacked a professional standard of NFL coaching for much of last season. I'm interested to see what the New York Jets can do with Aaron Rodgers at QB and professional NFL coaches. The coaching last season for the Jets was rock bottom so there's only one way for them to go no?
And before week 5 we had a professional head coach? Yes, Brick made Saleh look good, but the difference is that instead of 5 games we would end up winning 7. Saleh is still a bad HC. And also offense did not get any worse, defense did. Saleh had no positive impact whatsoever on offense. With that said, if Rodgers runs Tanner's offense, doesn't check out of runs, embraces play action and other plays, and just behaves as any other player, like he did under MLF, we might be a lot better. Check out this article though: https://jetsxfactor.com/2025/02/08/ny-jets-aaron-rodgers-fit-tanner-engstrand-scheme/ . They did run things differently in Detroit. Rodgers would have to embrace that fully. Also lack of mobility can really hurt him, and not just literally but figuratively as well, and this article outlines the specifics. Now, it is possible he comes back, but I still think the chances are 25% at best. Not crazy to think about, but not very likely either.
Rodgers was the unquestioned leader of a very undisciplined, bad football team. So what. they need new leadership
Yeah, I didn’t say anything of what you said, though. What I meant is all the stuff off the field. Podcasts, Mcafee show, political stuff, it may not work with the new direction the Jets are headed. That should be factored in. Is he worth all the hassle and media coverage? Similar to a Tebow or a Kaepernick. In 2023, I thought the answer was definitely yes. Now? I don’t know. I will say this though: I’m cool with whatever Aaron Glenn decides. If he wants Rodgers back, cool. If not, cool.
Im not disclosing my sources. I am very confident in them and will to do an account bet with you. If Rodgers returns for the 2025 season on the Jets your account gets deleted. If Rodgers does not return then my account gets deleted. Deal?
Ah yes the political stuff. Because his views don't align. Now we are getting somewhere as to why Rodgers as a person ruins all of it.
Rapaport and Pelissaro have a note on NFL.com that a decision on Rodgers could come as soon as this week. https://www.nfl.com/news/jets-rams-...-qb-questions-heading-into-2025-nfl-offseason IMO that sounds like typical Jets there. There is NO rush on this decision, announcing it the week after the SB seems like an attempt to grab attention and headlines. I thought we were passed that also, the way it’s written sure sounds like the authors think the Jets will bring him back: Provided Rodgers takes a paycut, commits to every practice and commits to learning a new offense. lol- good luck with that!
The owner makes wholesale decisions based on his personal embarrassment. Why wouldn't he make the announcement the week after the Super Bowl?
Much was exposed this week on that front. We know where the money comes from and who is paid to manufacture narratives. Back to football, who gives the Jets the best option to win in 2025? Maybe the QB who statistically speaking had the 3rd best year in franchise history? A future HOF inductee? Please convince me that Winston, Carr, Taylor are better options for this year. they are not
Ok, tell me exactly what you’d do with his contract since it shouldn't be difficult. You’re cool carrying his money into 2027 eating up 10’s of millions in cap space so we can have a “respectable” season next year? I mean, we’re not talking about Super Bowls next year, we and Rodgers are clearly not that good. So to have maybe a playoff appearance you wanna block off 20-30m+ a season for 2 more years? It shouldn’t be difficult, right?
That’s been true for the last 10-15 years but it’s swinging back. Bills, eagles, ravens, lions etc all emphasize the run. Obviously franchise QBs are the most important but no longer are we seeing the spread offense, throw the ball nearly every play and don’t care about the run. It’s turning back and I think in the coming years we’ll start to see bigger players on defense again, at DT and LB.
I really see nothing wrong with early timing. Dragging the decision for weeks and months with all the added BS does nothing, and that is exactly what we did in the past with any major move. Lots of talking and rumors. I also think many of us are convinced that letting go of AR is a foregone conclusion because of cap reasons and distractions, but we really have no clue what the new leadership is thinking. If the intention is to try to renegotiate his salary or find out AR intentions the sooner the discussions begin the better. I quite frankly don’t give a rat ass if the timing interferes with the KC Swifts media circus. Pick the timing and decide what is best for this team, something we haven’t done over the last 20 years.
Agreed, the sooner the decision is made better. There is simply no point to drag it out if they are decided. They have to come up with free agency plan, draft plan, which has some relation to that, whom to spend more time with at the combine and player visits, etc... Combine starts Feb 27, FAs can be committed on March 10 and we all know SOME conversations take place before that or you would not see announcements the minute tampering period opens. So I would say yes, if Rodgers decision can be made as soon as next week, that's a positive.
