Right…this was a very low cost move…it gives the Giants a body to put out there that is better than DeVito, who is borderline QB3…but this move does not preclude the Giants from still signing Rodgers (though probably much less likely) or more importantly, does not preclude them from drafting a QB at 3 overall
Even if they draft a QB, there is no way they should start him behind that OL in year one. Further, if the first two picks are QBs, the Giants will have to go BPA and roll with Winston. They are in a pickle. Wonder why they didn’t go with Winston.
As always you never answer the question, if he doesn’t believe in him why did they offer him a new contract much like ours.
You know, just a random thought and this is perfect thread for it. What are the Pittsburg Steelers thinking? I know he's no longer a Jet but you would think a team, like the Steelers, would have learned watching the Jets. I personally hold the Pittsburg organization as one of the premier run units. To watch them trip all over their "tongues" wagging at having a has been like Rodgers is kind of disconcerting. It's not like they have a loaded roster and he's the missing link either. It's not like they have a superior o-line either. PFF has them 4 spots LOWER than the Jets in 2024! He's no longer a leader either. He may have been at one time but that was gone before he left Green Bay. Strange...
contrary to what Soxx will tell you, Pittsburgh has had their fair share of dumb/ bad decisions at the QB position under Tomlin. Tomlin inherited roethlisberger and the position has been poor ever since. They just might not be smart with QBs
Agreed that they haven’t been able to figure it out but to be fair to them, they haven’t been in any position to take someone that would’ve fixed it. The only time since 2016 they’ve “passed” on a guy that succeeded is 2018 when 30 other teams also passed on Lamar. Other than that, they’ve been in no-man’s land as having a playoff team/roster combined with good coaching. They’d probably be better off tanking one of these seasons than going 10-7 and losing a WC game.
If you believe in a QB you give the QB a long term contract with much more money. They clearly did not believe in him, hence why they benched him, hence why they didn't pay high to retain him, hence why they didn't franchise tag him. It's common sense. The fact anyone is trying to argue this after they benched him while winning is laughable. If they believed in him they don't bench him, they offer him more, or they franchise him. They did none.
Because the Steelers know how to deal with success and great QBs unlike the Jets. The Jets didn't want Rodgers to go on a podcast show. Do the Steelers care? I doubt it
Come now, you should really stop selectively believing anything that fits the narrative. The podcast thing was reported by someone who no longer has any (biased) sources (hi Bob and JD) inside the organization and was debunked by reputable reporters. Rodgers was not extended because Glenn wanted a more promising for the future younger guy. Just like you see for every other position. And I really do want him to go to the Stealers just to see how it works out. Though unlike you I will be rooting for the Jets, not for him!
Unless it's actually Minny in the backround here applying enough tease interest that they may indeed be interested in signing him, man... Aaron Rodgers is really letting the worst possible PR hand play out for himself if he is just going to end up in Pittsburgh. I mean he knows how to play the generate good will with the fans part because we saw him do it here (outside the sign my friends stuff, of course). Instead he seems content going in there as the "he didn't actually want to be here" villain. I get Pittsburgh is far from ideal as a landing spot, but sometimes you gotta read the reality room better.
Wednesday April 9th McAfee is having a big event IN Pittsburgh at the Penguins area. That'll be the day. Rodgers will come on stage and say he intends to be a Steeler. Easy to peg this one Big Night AHT with Pat McAfee and Friends | PPG Paints Arena
Good for him Hopefully the Steelers @ Jets game is late in the year so he can clinch a playoff spot on the field of the team that kicked him to the curb. Would be the perfect ending and rock bottom moment for Woody Johnson (who wanted him gone) and this dysfunctional organization. The backlash from that might finally be enough for him to sell the team
I see where you are going with this. It would then also get us a #1 overall pick, Arch Manning, and a dynasty that puts Tom Brady to shame? LOL Nah, I will settle for Monday night Sept 2025 opener and Fields and the Jets beating Pitts in MetLife.
fuck that. why dont you just go wave the gay yellow towels with them already I can get (sorta) being mad at the Jets for cutting Rodgers, but to actively root for him against us? That's fanboi shit
Will you please just sign for another team so this thread can be put to rest in the place we don't go?
Whatever leads to Woody selling the team and getting a real coaching staff and GM in here is what needs to happen. If it means Rodgers clinching a playoff spot on the Jets field then so be it.
If you don’t believe in your QB you do not, repeat do not offer him close to 20M which they did. They might have had some doubts, as we do, but benching him for Wilson was kind of laughable at that point. As a Jet fan, I hope we destroy the Srpteelers when we play them, AR or not. May be a dream but so be it.
