I can see Sam right now in his Mom’s basement on the twitter saying “fucking Mac traded back 59 spots at the end of the draft for a mauling 6-5 330 pound former pro bowl Guard?!? FUUUUUCCCCKKKKKK!”
With Fowler gone, Jets really need to land Barr. He has moved next to Mitch Morse and Matt Paradis on my list.
Raiders on rushes directed left guard from 2016-18 (Kelechi Osemele's Oakland tenure): 10 touchdowns (3rd NFL) 43 first downs (6th) 27.4% of carries for first down (4th) They were the only team in the league to reach all three of those marks over that span.
Evan Silva Kelechi Osemele was PFF's No. 9 pass-blocking OG in 2016, No. 12 in 2017, and No. 61 in 2018. Battled injuries in final season with #Raiders but strange how entire Oakland OL got worse as soon as Tom Cable became position coach. Osemele not yet 30. #Jets
It’s weird but I woke up this morning feeling a lot better about our Jets. We sign a Center and I’ll be very happy.
The more I hear about the trade the more I like it. Now get me a center and draft a linemen with one of our first three picks and some playmakers and it'll be a good offseason.
When Osemale was drafted by the Ravens I was living in Baltimore and they interviewed him on the radio the day after the pick. He impressed me. The guy is all about football, no dumb stuff. After that interview I always made a point to keep an eye on his career because I was so impressed by him. So I feel like I am quite knowledgable on the guy even if I don't have a fancy twitter or a completely made up grading system. He is a good player. He will be a solid pass blocker always and he has a mean streak in the running game that will surprise you. This was a good move.
The only thing that concerns me is the nature of his injuries, toes/feet. That could affect his pulling ability a lot if he cannot come back fully from those injuries and that could result in more piles of dust than gains. It's nice to hear that he lost the weight. Other than that, I'm comfortable with the trade, we've done pretty well over the years with FA Olinemen.
nice little move by mac here. He had a down year in 2018 and missed 5 games with injury, but made the pro bowl in 2016 and 2017 (1st team all pro in 2016) and all we did was slide back a round at the end of the draft. hard to complain here. even his contract is reasonable and we aren't on the hook for anything either.
was pleased to hear about the trade - anything that helps to improve (or potentially improve) our OL has to be a good thing
