^Can't. $17m in dead money. We gotta sign a vet and have an open camp competition between Suckchez/FA/McElroy, and maybe take a flier on a mid round QB prospect. We absolutely have to adress the position. Cut Tebow obviously, what a fuckin disaster.
Accept that Sanchez is a lost cause. That is where things should start. Once you accept that, then you can accept that, Jets must draft a next QB apparent. Once that kid is ready, Jets should be ready to shitcan Nacho. All in all, you do not want a rookie QB starting for the team under any circumstance. Since I do not see how Jets will stay competitive next year, I would be more than content to see the Jets draft BPA for the future, let the season unroll, grab a QB prospect in the NEXT draft, let Nacho suck another season, THEN shitcan him. The new QB kid will have a lot of young weapons to play with for a long time, unlike this failed joke Nacho.
If Sanchez is not in the Jets plans then he can be cut after June 1st. His cap hit for 2013 is the same with him on the roster as with him cut after June 1st.
Cutting Sanchez now is not in the best interest of the Jets, regardless whether Sanchez is in the future Jets plan or not. He should stay.
unless of course you think its in the teams best interest to eat a contract of that size and not get any sort of production out of it, even if its in practice with th second string...
It may well be in the Jets best interests to cut Sanchez after June 1st. We'll have to see what they think is the best move after they fill in the position in the draft and free agency. If they can't get a guy in here that they like to take the job then it's probably going to be Sanchez job to lose in camp. If they can get a couple of other guys to compete who they think belong on the roster then keeping Sanchez after June 1st probably does not make sense.
The only reason I do not think cutting Nacho as of now is not in the best interest of Jets is simply because there is nobody ready to step up for the roster. If Jets are so inclined to cut this burrito-smelling ass, they can do that after this season, provided they drafted a good QB prospect in this draft. For umpteenth time. Just say FUCK NO to a rookie QB starting under the center.
I think this is the general consensus now. Full rebuild mode, if this is the case Rex will get more time than the extra year that alot of folks think he's going to get
Cutting Sanchez would be a mistake. Give him this new staff to work under and let's see if its really time to move on.
the question is do you take the pain now knowing you will suck next year anyway if you have this douche as the qb or do you spread it out over 2 years or take a smaller hit next year. i really see no reason to keep him for next year, i hope he doesnt see the field and he will not be helping anyone sitting on the bench for 8 million dollars. its addition by subtraction as far as i am concerned. the problem is he is like a wife you want to divorce, its cheaper to keep her. doesnt he count 8 mill against the cap if we keep him and 17 if we let him go. i believe thats correct. and i hate that bitch
Maybe. I hear how everyone keeps saying how 'horrible' they are. I think they're horrible only because the last class was so good when it comes to QBs. If you get a quarterback in the second or third round, I don't see how it's a bad investment.
It's pretty likely that there is a good QB or even a couple of them in this draft. It's just not easy to figure out who the guys are and even if we figure it out we're going to have to put a lot of effort in after the fact to make things work out. With a half dozen guys in the first tier and another half dozen in the second there's a really good argument for just taking whoever is left in the 6th round. If you can't reliably choose among a group of assets but it costs much less to let other people choose for you that's often the best course of action.
