Good game tonight. Rosen looks more pro ready, has a stronger, more accurate arm, and is the better passer at this point, but I would be concerned about the injury risk with him. He has a thinner frame and doesn't look like he could put on much weight, and doesn't seem all that mobile. I like Darnold's moxie and play-making ability, but his arm doesn't look that good/strong to me, at least not for the Meadowlands. He also does't look very athletic to me, however, even though the announcers said he is and is supposedly quick. Each has some outstanding qualities. I think I may be leaning towards Baker Mayfield at this point, however.
And don't forget, if you root for the Jets the misery in your life will seem endless even if you don't actually live all that long!
Was going to post the exact same thing. Right now my preference list is: Mayfield, Rudolph, Rosen, Darnold. Haven't seen Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson play at all, and only a little of Falk earlier in the year. It's funny how because of the Jets unexpected wins this season they are still in the running for Darnold.
After watching the entire game, not impressed as a whole. Rosen had 3 or 4 passes knocked down, was way off target on more than a few throws, interception in the end zone. Yes, he had some beautifully placed throws, like that TD, but for what people talk about for a #1 or #2 pick I expected better. I would still like the pick if it didn't cost too much to get either one trading up.
4 teams currently in front of us are slated to pick QBs Cleveland, ?New York?, ?LA? and ?Denver? However question marks remain for those 3 and they could all still win some games while we are likely to lose out AND we face Denver/LA which helps. We aren’t beating Carolina, KC, @NO or @Brady. Only winnable game is the Chargers but even then we may be playing Petty/Hack week 16. We can still pick in the top 4, maybe even top 3.
Darnold is good...VERY good, but he's not as good as Rosen. And there was ONE report of him being pissy...name a highly competitive athlete who doesn't get that way and even shows it sometimes. In fact, some can make it work for them. But keep spreading that rumor, and maybe enough teams in front of the Jets will believe it.
It's hard to know for sure, but some of his "badly thrown" balls, according to the announcers looked like they were thrown to the spot they should've been, but the receiver broke the pattern. Still, he made a lot of great throws that very few QBs can make.
The Jets are in great position to get a young QB. They are loaded with cap space (second most in the league) to fill in on the O line, DB back and WR. and have 2 second round choices. They can move up to get one of the top guys. Jackson, Allen and Mayfield will be available even if other teams fall in love with Rosen And Darnold.
Um ... there was more than ONE report. This article (LINK) from July mentions three separate reports by itself. All you have to do is Google "Josh Rosen teammates" and there are plenty of reports.
Being that we don't have Marcus Mariota, it really isn't relevant. I get what you are saying. I'd even agree he is an upgrade over what we have now. Still, it isn't enough. It wasn't for Buffalo, why would it be for us?
I've watched all of the top QB's presumably entering the draft. To me, Darnold is a good player, but a step below someone like Rosen? All in all, my two favorites and most likely to be successful in the NFL is Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield. Rosen, as far as the Jets are concerned, is more than likely out of Mac's reach? Mayfield should be the guy for Mac assuming he doesn't trade up to get Rosen. I know Mayfield is a bit of a head case and a little bit of an arrogant douchebag, but I think those traits could serve him well in NY. He's not short on confidence and I think that could come in handy.
Rosen is clearly the top QB IMO, with Mayfield behind him. Darnold can make good plays but is highly overrated. That team wins because of their ability to run which takes a lot of pressure off him. That being said, I hope Darnold comes out so any team in front of us who needs a QB takes him. I think Lamar Jackson would also be worth getting if we don’t get one of the top three, but I’d take him ahead of Darnold.
Yes I didn't like the passes being batted down but a few of them were by Owusu who leads college football with PBU for a linebacker. Wasn't Rosens best game but many of his throws this year have simply been dropped by his receivers.
