- Monday Night Miracle for sure. - Jets over GB in 2002 for the division. - 41-0 over the Colts, can't argue with any of these. - Jets over NE at Foxboro at 2006 (Dead Fish handshake game)
Probably something like that. And even if it was, say, 11, the Jets were probably down 20 at that point.
Excellent honorable mentions. I picked the Colts playoff win cause it was a drubbing of an HOF QB by our "noodle arm" QB and put us into the next round of the playoffs. IMO a playoff win holds more weight than a regular season game but the MNM was definitely THE most memorable regular season game. Again - my opinion and I'm certainly not bashing anyone else' selection...
No one was calling Chad "Noodle Arm" back then - in fact, they were comparing him to Joe Montana. It was the rotator cuff injury in 2004 that led to that, and the followup rotator cuff injury in 2005 that ended any chance of him having a legitimate NFL arm.
41-0. That game was incredible. It was like a 3 hour party. The Packers game the week before is a close second. Then the Monday Night Miracle.
i picked the john hall kick...its not really objective its just one of those jets moments I have that stuck with me and enjoyed so much. but if i had to be objective i would say the 41 - 0 victory over the colts or the monday night miracle
While the MNM was a ton of fun, the Jets did not make the playoffs that year. Therefore, it was "just another regular season game." To be the game of the decade, the game had to have more significance than a regular season win in a 9-7 non-playoff year. I picked the win over Green Bay as the GOTD. Was there ever a more bizarre, raucous atmosphere at the Meadowlands that day? It was the most memorable day I have had and I have had tickets since 1980. The Colt game the next week was a close #2, again becaust it meant something. It was a playoff game and it was the most dominating performance I have ever seen by a Jet team.
Easiest poll I've seen on TheGangGreen. I worked with 2 Dolphin fans in 2000 and that's the only time they ever just hid from me for an entire day.
The John Hall kick was something, I was still working as a flight attendant and was working a Newark to San Jose flight (cross country) I kept going up to the flight deck asking for updates and when Hall kicked the FG the FO (first officer) came on and said "To all of our Jet fans on board we're going to the playoffs" and there was bunch of people who started cheering. I later questioned their fandom by being on that flight , my excuse was I was working. I also watched the last part of the MNM in the Fox Sports Bar at Sky Harbor because of the same thing.
That was a great game, but it can't be #1. The Jets allowed 37 points to the Dolphins in a game that in the end was worthless. Beating the Colts in the playoffs at home 41-0 during a magical 3 week stretch has to be #1.
The January 6th, 2002 game is THE game that made me a Jets fan so I'm biased to vote that one. Actually the 41-0 blowout was the best game though. Beating Green Bay and shoving it in my families face was great too
While the two wins in 2003/04 (Packers and Colts) were great games/wins. I have never seen anything from this team like the Monday Night Miracle. That was truly amazing.
Speaking of decades, this has to be the best decade overall the Jets ever had as a franchise. Playoff appearances in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006 and possibly 2009. 6 (possibly 7) above .500 seasons (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and possibly 2009). Things can get bad in Jetsland, but it has actually been a pretty productive decade.
Are we looking for a game where we won by the most points? It was one of the 'greatest' comebacks in the NFL history, let alone the Jets history. It has to rate up there. The Colts game was great too, no doubt. But we didn't have to score 30 pts in the 4th quarter just to send it in to overtime. .
Great thread... I had to go for the Jets/Packers in 02' for the division after the Patriots came from behind and beat the Dolphins... I was at that game and I remember the roar in the stadium when New England won and the Jets could then play for their first division title... Great day in Jets history
