First I completely agree with Hoo Bash on you don’t spend the house on free agents who all come in with their own set of bagage. We all leaned this lesson from parcels picking up all those free agents during his run at a super bowl, As for the run game if you look at both of our leading rushers they are not far from the mark as compared to other rushers this year , L Washington is at 432 yards rushing while sharing the load with Barlow who is at 327 .Looking at other teams who have two running backs sharing the load we are right on point! We have a young healthy team and maybe this will factor in to our season as it continues but our front office is one of the best in the league in terms of player personnel and managing the cap (Tanny) So take a chill pill and look at the big picture, We have the foundation to build on that some teams would wish for. And finally if you add our rushers totals they = 759. Which is about 173? Yards shy of where Ladamian Tomlinson is right now. We’re doing O.k. also TO would eat a hole right through the middle of this team ,No thanks
Look, football is the ultimate team game. One high priced dick isn't going to helpthe Jets. Yeah, our running game has struggled. We have two rooks on the Oline, but they're getting better. If you want to build a consistant winner you have to have patience.
Look. Think of football as a game of money. i.e. teams that horde the most value in players win. Of course, the tip here is, not to pay as much as the player is actually worth. Say you are in a league, and have $100 in your hand. Say you assemble the best possible team you can from free agents with what little salary cap that you have. Which way is your team headed? 8-8. Why? Because free agents are NOT going to be paid less than what they are worth. If you want to win, you must horde at least $150 without spending more than 75$ of the salary cap for the emergency reasons. This is precisely what the winning franchises have in common - somewhere in their roster there are players that are severely underpaid yet produces like those show-me-the-money free agents. There is just no other way to win in this league in the age of parity and salary cap. Just no other way. I still find it appalling to see anyone crying out over not picking up marquee free agent over the off season - isn't this clear? Okay, if you are really that ONE PIECE away from the big one, go right ahead. Maybe you will win one. But my question is that, is it really that simple? Sadly, not really. Either way around, picking up marquee free agents season after season is just the best way to grind the franchise into mediocrity - you will have fastly aging, extravagantly paid roster that can't compete come post season.
