Sean McDermott is the only defensive coach still in the playoffs. That being said, although Daboll was my top pick, I like this hire a lot of it happens.
Just read the Jets have competition for his services. Philly GM Howie Roseman wants him too. Douglas might have to lock the doors if he really wants him.
No Offence but you were also Gases biggest apologist, and fan, the fact you're so big on this dude is concerning
Yup. I enjoy the team I grew up rooting for and I don't enjoy living my life depressed and upset at a team I have watched for over 20 years. I make it a point to be optimistic about this franchise and hope for the best every year. If I am wrong, so be it. But it beats the hell out of being miserable every Sunday
And for what it's worth, I hated the Gase hire. I was on here stating that it was dumb and I was hoping it would pan out. Didn't expect it to from the beginning, but hoped it did. I was an apologist for him because I thought he did a hell of a job ending the year last year, especially given the horrendous injuries we had. I soured on him pretty quickly this year.
I'd be good with either Salah or Daboll, but from strictly a strategy standpoint, the Jets can't afford to wait for Daboll and risk him ultimately choosing another team over them, especially since the Chargers (arguably the best job available) are reportedly interested, too. If they're that high on Salah, get it done tonight.
Agree. You have to sign him tonight if you are sold on him. If he leaves the building, you are taking a HUGE risk in losing him for good
A lot of what you said makes sense, and he would likely be a good hire. And anyone is better than Gase. However, I am a little concerned with any coach characterized as a "player's coach" "who gets along with everyone." The exact same thing was written about Toilet Bowles, whose last 3 seasons were 5-11, 5-11, and 4-12 with us. Bowles especially had a problem (or should I say did NOT have a problem) with MoWilk and several other players (Geno Smith) being late for or missing meetings. When asked his thoughts, this "players coach" Bowles basically sided with the players who WERE always late for meetings, chirping "Not everyone has an alarm clock." Really good example/discipline. Yes, I like an approachable coach with some fire, but a lot of your points were also said about Bowles (who BTW was 1-5 against Gase). Still like Smith and Daboll ahead of RS, but RS would be my third choice.
What if for personal reasons he wants to interview with another team? He still has to consider what’s in the best Interest of his family no?
