He probably lost a couple players. I wouldn't say he lost the locker room. Either way it's not like our players wouldn't play hard for him or anything. He doesn't want his GM telling him who to pick as his staff members. That's logical and I side with Pederson on that. We wouldn't want our GM demanding that a successful coach not be able to choose his staff. If you read between the lines it was clearly a power struggle between Roseman and Pederson. Most Eagles fans think Roseman was at fault.
Based on this we now know Jets rankings of the coaches 1) Love: Saleh 2) Really Like: Daboll 3) Like: Smith
I believe that Smith and Saleh are the ones JD really liked. If he can’t land either of them he’s realistically settling for a HC that he’s not enamored with but believes can still do a good job, and I don’t think that bodes well for Jets. Let’s be real, no GM is going to love every candidate he interviews and if his favorites are hired somewhere else, that’s a terrible spot to be in as GM and potential new HC.
The Falcons owner Arthur Blank was a Home Depot founder. It makes sense he'd fall-in with the son of the FedEx founder. It'd be interesting to know which job each of these guys crave,
Pederson needs to decide rather quickly if he is available, particularly if Buffalo loses and Daboll starts actively interviewing. Reports are he may be thinking to take a year off. Btw, NFL recently did investigation and decided "it couldn't be determined the Eagles intentionally tried to lose the game", so no punishment for tanking. It sounds like the reports of losing locker room may have been blown out of proportion also and this will likely blow over.
nephew of Jet Blue founder haha. between the 3 of them they would control the air, shipping, and construction. No clue if that would help any of them on 3rd and 8 though
Rumors have been that Daboll is the frontrunner for the Chargers job. They may have a handshake agreement in place for after the Bills are out of the playoffs.
Not sure if this has been discussed, but I like the way Daboll looks, I love the progress that Josh Allen has made with him, but I don't know how that translates to head coach. I'd want a guy with a bit more coaching responsibility, or at least I think I do. Makes me think back to what kind of HC Mike Westhoff might have been. I remember at the time when I heard he was interested thinking "how can the special teams guy be head coach?" I was probably DEAD wrong there,
There seems to be a lot of comments along those lines. If the Jets are narrowing the search to Saleh and Smith at this point, not Brady or the d coach of the Rams then the decision should be imminent. Somehow I think there is another player in the mix.
Happy with the process so far, I must say. Really like Saleh, so would definitely be happy if they hired him. Still, though, I trust Douglas with the hire (with the exception of bringing Pederson in).
I am very excited about Saleh and Smith. I feel like we are finally being run by someone who knows what they are doing and what they want. JD has to be a big selling point to any potential HC. Since there was not a known 3rd finalist interview today we can speculate that Brady, Lewis and Eberflus have been eliminated. Leaving Daboll and Bieniemy as additional potential finalists. Let's hope Buffalo loses and things will be settled quickly. It is always nice to root against the Bills.
as a jet fan since 1965, i have to agree with you. i have a feeling that they already have an insurance policy : doug pederson either directly or via 3rd party, jets owners and JD know that doug would accept the job if offered. they can take their time interviewing , with an ace up their sleeve. plus, the long time gives them a chance for the tanking pr to cool off.
