    agree 100%

the point i was trying to make is that, just as JD would want to get this done here and now, Saleh has similar motivation. Vacillating or checking other options might cause him to lose the opportunity

Mario Cuomo vacillated and lost his chance to be a serious contender; Bloomberg more recently

If Saleh wants the job he should commit to it then and there, or risk losing the opportunity. And, frankly if I were in JD's shoes and the guy said i need to think about it or talk to my wife or whatever i'd pass. He either (1) didn't come prepared or (2) he's not fully into it -- he'll take it if he has to

i dont perceive that anyone has accused him of "acting"...
only doubt that THAT type of expression is somehow a motivational advantage/superpower

If a GM, head coach and offensive coordinator all think he can become a good QB, maybe we should take a step back and realize we are just fans on an internet message board. Do I think we should move on from him? Yes. Do I think Gase did irreparable damage to him? Yes. Do I think someone is an idiot if they think they can correct the mistakes? No.

That is a good thing. Saleh is a Head Coach most Jets fans would be happy with.

No one thought he was ready day 1. Everyone with a brain knew he needed coaching. We gave him the worst coaching imaginable and the worst resources around him. He needed to be coached up and instead we made him worse. There's a reason that the overwhelming opinion is that he can still be a QB somewhere else. Again... we're fans on a message board. When the people who get paid to give their informed opinion and the people who get paid to make the decisions say one thing but we say the other... I'm gonna do with them even when my opinion is different (I'd move on).

I think it is clear to see as fans that Sam has potential too. It is just not guaranteed and there are a lot of risks involved, plus other options available, so it makes it a tougher choice.

Yep. I'm happy I'm not making that decision. If you can make Sam a legit starter, use all your assets to build around him and come out of the other side as a contender, you're a friggen genius. If you try to make Sam a starter, a guy you passed on becomes a star and two years from now you're drafting a rookie, you're a failure.

I'll stick to making TV shows, thank you.

in the main i think coaches are given far too much credit for player performance... very specifically qb perfformance.
quick tell me who the SD OC is? he's responsible for Herbert? Marino was Marino cos of Shula? i dont buy it in most cases.

i get your point, in bold. but look at how many draft busts there are.... they are professionals getting it wrong all the time.
or else all evaluations are accurate and all busts bust cos they werent "coached up"?

2017 i said "if watson is there at #6, you cant pass on him." we chose Adams. internet guy vs gm. i certainly win that one.

the list of players who start out like sam then become decent is very short. very. its long odds. and again, i like sam, grest kid.
but hes the biggest draft bust in Jet hx as of today.

Comparing the Chargers to us is complete apples to oranges.

Chargers have Keenan Allen, Hunter Henry, Mike Williams... all three of which would be hands down the #1 receiving option on the Jets. And then when you look beyond that... they had turds, but they got production out of those turds. That's a testament to coaching which includes the system they run and playcalling. Of course Herbert plays a huge role in his own success but he was set up for it. We did absolutely nothing for Sam. The coaching was terrible, he had no talent around him and because the coaching was so terrible, they had no idea how to get ANYTHING out of their players.

the #6 pick and 3 2nd rnders was A HUGE DRAFT INVESTMENT.

HE'S THE WORST STARTING QB IN THE NFL OVER THE LAST 3 YRS.

shrug. how do you NOT say thats a bust.
