Other teams will be fishing for a head coach, you have to think the Jets situation is one of the better ones out there. Somebody also mentioned on twitter that McCarthy said he was not interested in Arizona.
You can make the case that Mac had more negative effect on Bowles than vice versa. In fact, Bowles losing games actually made Mac’s job easier by getting him better draft picks (which of course he wasted.) Yet one of them gets to stay and not the other huh?

In all fairness, Mac deserves the privilege to see what he can do without Bowles handing him great draft picks. Bowles just wasn’t making the most of the terrible talent Mac gave him to prove his genius and I’m sure the Johnson’s felt they needed a different kind of coach.
