Agreed, I really got annoyed when I would watch a Monday night game and the commentators would gush over him like he was the greatest coach ever. Not evereybody is meant to be a Head Coach, he might learn from his mistakes and become a great HC, who knows. Belacheat did.
I remember when coach Billick fired Jim Fossil as his OC, them two were great friends still Billick acted like a Fing pro and got rid of him.
It's the right move, but as is typical of this franchise, it's a weak half measure. The GM is just as culpable for our failure over the last four years as Bowles. Maccagnan needed to be fired just as much as Todd B.
My hope is that they hire a strong HC - Harbaugh hopefully - who will be given the control over football decisions, including final say over player acquisitions, and Macc takes on the paperwork end.
You're right on the money. A coach who has final say over personnel matters is the only way we can mitigate Mac's poor decisions.
I hope Chris is smart enough not to put the coach and GM as equals. The coach needs to report into the GM. From Chris's comments it also doesn't seem like they will be hiring a head of football operations to run things. That could be a mistake. Mac better realize he needs to get this hire right and he better spend their $100mm wisely or he'll never see the GM role again. This is his chance to prove us all wrong and solidify his status.
Firing Bowles and not Mac is going to make this team the target of countless accusations of racism, and the Johnson’s ties to Trump won’t help. We really didn’t need to deal with this...
Why the FUCK is everything tied to racism. Seriously grow the fuck up. Bowles sucked and he was fired. Mac sucked less and was retained. It’s not fucking racism. Geezuz fuck.
@Brook! Are we allowing this political bullshit to continue? Seriously? We just ended up 4-12 do we really need this shit?
Aren’t you so happy we had a (half) black president look what he did to improve race relations in America. Ha!
