Yeah, the QB is definitely at the top of the reasons why. The other main reason is they went from having the worst owner in football (Snyder) to a competent ownership group. This ownership group picked the right QB and surrounded him with the right OC who plays to his strengths with his offensive system. This sounds like the anti-Jets. Until Woody Johnson stops mettling in football matters and brings in a proven winning football guy like Saban or Carroll or someone else who's been successful to build the entire franchise, this merry go round of ineptitude will continue forever.
I hear you. It is stupid to comment in public. The fact that he did points to a larger problem though.
Raiders went with Pierce and went 5-4. Sure it could spark the Jets under an interim coach. Maybe they ll go 8-4, who knows. But as long as AR is ok to play this team can stay alive in AFC East. I still have faith in this team. It’s not how you start, but how you finish.
Woody was embarrassed in the UK, enough said. Everyone from JD on down are now on high alert. First indication, let’s see how well prepared they are come Monday, and how disciplined they are in the execution of the game plan.
FS1 reporting that Saleh was escorted out of the building by security. Adam Gase was not when he was fired. WTF happened behind closed doors?
Jay Glazer on X: "Just talked to Robert Saleh who said was blindsided by Woody Johnson walking to his office and letting him go. Certainly disappointed he wasn’t going to be given the opportunity to get things going with what he said is a very good roster" / X
My suspicion is because Gase was fired when the players and coaches weren’t still actively at the facility mid season.
Jordan Schultz on X: "My understanding is that Robert Saleh was fired this morning and then escorted out of the building by team security. There was no meeting with players to inform them or anything like that. He was in the building for work, and then he was out of the building and out of a job. https://t.co/BH7YjnvRN0" / X
so Woody why wasn't Hackett let go also? The 2 of them are complete moron's that should never see the sideline in the NFL again in their capacities.
Well this was unexpected after 5 games. Not undeserved, but unexpected. Looks like Woody got fed up. The problem is that this isn’t a cure-all. This should hopefully fix the lack of accountability problem…Ulbrecht needs to bring that because Saleh just seemed like he wanted to be the players friend. That’s a positive. Funny but not shocking that Saleh said he was blindsided…dude! Seriously? You have a pretty damn stacked roster. You have Rodgers. And you’re 2-3 and couldn’t score a fucking TD against Denver. At home. How do you NOT worry as a coach? Come on… However, the defense has been good under the Saleh/Ulbrecht combo, and having Ulbrecht spend less time on D could potentially mean a step back on D. This doesn’t necessarily fix the offense, though. As everyone has already pointed out, Hackett is still here and he sucks ass. And Ulbrecht, as a defensive coach, isn’t really the best option to provide significant help on offense. So this move was more about cleaning out an HC who looks like he lost the team, and hoping the accountability and new energy creates a spark. It’s not uncommon for a team to get a short term lift from a change like this, especially if the new interim guy is respected by the players, so we may benefit a bit in the short term, and honestly I wouldn’t be surprised to see us win on Monday night due to the new energy…of course, I also wouldn’t be shocked to see us lose either, so there’s that. But until we deal with the real problems, and in the coaching ranks I think those problems start with Hackett and Carter, then long term this change probably doesn’t make too much difference. I also expect that JD will try real hard to get Adams here now and see if he can light a spark as well, and just go all in. From JD’s standpoint, he’s got nothing to lose and everything to gain. If this season falls short of the playoffs with Rodgers as QB, I just don’t see how JD survives. Will be an interesting next few weeks, but for now…we HAVE to win on Monday and justify Woody’s action today.
Yeah I really think the UK thing played a role. I had the same thought during the game. Woody was the ambassador to the UK which had to make the loss even more embarrassing.
That dude has had more than 3 years of "opportunity" to get things going again!! Even in exit he had nothing but a canned bullshit statement.
Lol the opportunity to get things going... You had almost 4 years my guy. Good coaches turn teams around immediately.
I just saw the news!!!! WOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for my lunch break...may be headed to the bar instead of the deli!!!!
