This doesn't fix the accountability problem. If anything, and as far as the desired endgame result for us fans go, it does the exact opposite. For the reason you started with. At some point people need to stop "we finally have a real QB!" fanboy'ing here and start holding *HIM* more accountable. Doing stuff backwards just to cater to Aaron Rodgers didn't work the first time, didn't work after and up to this point, and isn't going to work here.
It does feel a bit like re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic without Hackett gone. And the Titanic is Woody. Wish you could fire an owner
Connor Hughes last year said that Carter wouldn't be let go because that was Salehs GUY. He pounded the table night and day to keep Carter on this staff. Would not be shocked if he's gone after a game or 2 if the run game or OL doesn't fix itself.
Woody's statement via the Jets social media is very telling. "Ulrich has the respect of the other coaches and players..." Which is to say Saleh didn't.
Absolutely this. Bringing that crap staff back intact this season was idiotic and now we have a total mess on our hands
Good riddance. Hackett should also be sent packing but at least the person who ought to be held accountable was held accountable.
Saleh is a fucking loser. Hackett is the main problem, but keeping this idiot as the HC is still a problem. Good riddance.
How do we have a total mess? We got rid of one of the problems lmfao. You will find anything to just shit on the team you root for.
Riiiiight. Week 5 firing a head coach, a team that looks clueless, an offense that can't complete a pass for more than 3 yards, cannot run the ball more than 2 yards a carry, a 40 y/o QB who is one hit away from being out for the season, but yes Mr. Genius football expert, I shit on my team at every turn, you are so right. Losers accept losing and you sir fit that bill to the T.
Saleh had to go sooner or later. The time to axe both him and Hackett was after last season but the Jets can never operate functionally Ulbrich's first act should be to take play calling duties away from Hackett since it appears he is staying for now, I know we don't have great alternative options but anything would be better. We need to bring in Mike Vrabel and a legit OC and then we are getting somewhere. I think Ulbrich was the only real option if you were appointing an interim. Hopefully his appointment starts to bring a culture of accountability and that would be progress at least.
Saleh sucked and I'm glad he's gone but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Saleh calling disastrous straight 4th and 2 runs up the gut into the teeth of the defense.
I have no issue with the firing. But me Personally believe Rodgers and Hackett are the bigger problem. They can’t get on the same page for two weeks in a row. Sure Rodgers the best QB we have to date in the last whatever how many years. He has hurt us the last two games. I hope AR is ok to play Buffalo. Folks can’t write season off. Win vs Buffalo, we still have a chance for playoffs. Moving on.
I normally don’t agree with reactionary moves but this is the right decision. You can’t have multiple locker room leaders talking about the lack of accountability. You can’t have the head coach openly admitting his players aren’t discipline enough to handle a hard count. It’s been a mess and Saleh talked himself into way too many problems openly. The statue look wandering the sidelines without coaching anyone or communicating are also an awful look. The season is at an inflection point here.
